When he first introduced the notion of a conformal boundary into the study of asymptotically empty space-times, Penrose noted that the boundary would be null, space-like or time-like according as the cosmological constant [Formula: see text] was zero, positive or negative. While most applications of the idea of a conformal boundary have been to the zero-[Formula: see text], asymptotically Minkowskian case, there also has been work on the non-zero cases. Here, we review work with a positive [Formula: see text], which is the appropriate case for cosmology of the universe in which we live. This article is part of a discussion meeting issue 'At the interface of asymptotics, conformal methods and analysis in general relativity'.

Background: The mite Varroa destructor is the most serious pest of the western honey bee (Apis mellifera) and a major factor in the global decline of colonies. Traditional control methods, such as chemical pesticides, although quick and temporarily effective, leave residues in hive products, harming bees and operators' health, while promoting pathogen resistance and spread. As a sustainable alternative, RNA interference (RNAi) technology has shown great potential for honey bee pest control in laboratory assays, but evidence of effectiveness in the field has been lacking.

Background: Teenage childbirth is an issue of social and public health concern in Ghana, with high prevalence in some regions, including the Central Region. There is a dire need to understand the experiences of teenagers beyond pregnancies to facilitate comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and service provision. We explored the postnatal experiences of teenage mothers in five communities in the Central Region of Ghana.

Integrating Nutritional Status and Hematological Biomarkers for Enhanced Prognosis Prediction in Glioma Patients: A Systematic Review.

Clin Nutr ESPEN

January 2025

Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical sciences "Mario Serio", University of Florence, Florence, Italy; Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi, Radiation Oncology Unit, Florence, Italy.

Purpose: Multiple inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers have been established as independent prognostic factors across various solid tumors, but their role in outcomes prediction for glioma is still under investigation. Aim of the present systematic review is to report the available evidence regarding the impact of nutritional assessment and intervention for glioma prognosis and patients' quality of life (QoL).

Materials And Methods: Our systematic review conformed to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines.

Background: Cigarette smoking remains a significant public health concern, with detrimental effects on both smokers and those exposed to secondhand smoke. This study investigates the factors influencing smoking behaviors in Iranian households, focusing on households with children under five years old.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of 8751 Iranian households using data from the Iranian Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) collected by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) in 2021.

The current work presents comparative assessment of affinity of the designed DNA aptamers for extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR*). The affinity data of the 20 previously published aptamers are summarized. Diversity of the aptamer selection methods and techniques requires unification of the comparison algorithms, which is also necessary for designing aptamers used in the post-selection fitting to the target EGFR* protein.
