Background: The relative advantages and disadvantages of 2-stage versus 1-stage management of infection following total hip arthroplasty (THA) are the current subject of intense debate. To understand the merits of each approach, detailed information on the short and, importantly, longer-term outcomes of each must be known. The purpose of the present study was to assess the long-term results of 2-stage exchange arthroplasty following THA in one of the largest series to date.

Background: Arthroscopic Bankart repair (ABR) and the open Latarjet (OL) procedure are the most frequently preferred methods in the treatment of anterior glenohumeral instability. The aim of this study was to compare patients who underwent ABR or OL due to anterior glenohumeral instability in terms of functional capacity, glenohumeral bone loss, residual apprehension, redislocation, and dislocation arthropathy.

Methods: A total of 56 patients who underwent ABR or OL due to anterior glenohumeral instability between January 2018 and December 2021 were evaluated retrospectively.

Background: Among rugby players, anterior shoulder dislocation is challenging to treat during the in-season period. It often leads to recurrent shoulder instability and requires prolonged rest post-surgery. No studies have determined the effectiveness of immobilization, early muscle strength training, or both in preventing reinjury in this population.

Effect of Stress Aging on Strength, Toughness and Corrosion Resistance of Al-10Zn-3Mg-3Cu Alloy.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

Shandong Zhuoyue Precision Industry Group Co., Ltd., Jining 272114, China.

The 7000 series aluminum alloy represented by Al-Zn-Mg-Cu has good strength and toughness and is widely used in the aerospace field. However, its high Zn content results in poor corrosion resistance, limiting its application in other fields. In order to achieve the synergistic improvement of both strength and corrosion resistance, this study examines the response of strength, toughness and corrosion resistance of a high-strength aluminum alloy tail frame under aging conditions with external stresses of 135 MPa, 270 MPa and 450 MPa.

Case: A 41-year old man fell from height sustaining displaced radial shaft and ulnar styloid fractures underwent open reduction internal fixation of the radius with early recognition of a radiocapitellar dislocation and longitudinal forearm instability in the early postoperative period. Revision surgery was performed 13 days postoperatively involving annular ligament reconstruction, elbow spanning external fixation, and distal radioulnar joint stabilization. Favorable functional and radiographic outcomes are shown at 1-year follow-up.
