Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a heterogeneous histiocytosis with various pulmonary manifestations and imaging. We aim to evaluate the pulmonary response of LCH by high resolution chest computed tomography (HRCT) through continuous follow-up.We conducted a retrospective analysis of 73 adult LCH patients with pulmonary involvement.

Immune and Metabolic Mechanisms of Endothelial Dysfunction.

Int J Mol Sci

Institute of Physiology, Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus, Technische Universität Dresden, 01037 Dresden, Germany.

Endothelial dysfunction is a strong prognostic factor in predicting the development of cardiovascular diseases. Dysfunctional endothelium loses its homeostatic ability to regulate vascular tone and prevent overactivation of inflammation, leading to vascular dysfunction. These functions are critical for vascular homeostasis and arterial pressure control, the disruption of which may lead to hypertension.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterised by an autoimmune response specifically mounted against the insulin-producing beta cells. Within the islet, high cellular connectivity and extensive vascularisation facilitate intra-islet communication and direct crosstalk with the surrounding tissues and the immune system. During the development of T1D, cytokines and extracellular vesicles released by beta cells can contribute to the recruitment of immune cells, further amplifying autoimmunity and aggravating beta cell damage and dysfunction.

Unit of Nanotechnology and Bioactive Natural Products, Post Graduate and Research Department of Zoology, C. Abdul Hakeem College (Autonomous), Melvisharam - 632 509, Ranipet District (Affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore), Tamil Nadu, India.

The objective of the present study was to encapsulate the effective antidiabetic glimepiride (GLM) drug with biodegradable chitosan nanoparticles (CS NPs) in order to reduce the risk of side effects, regulate and improve alternatives to therapy for people with type 2 Diabetes mellitus. The characterizations of the encapsulated EGLM-CS NPs were published in a previous paper. In continuation of the past study, here we report the in vitro and in vivo activities of EGLM-CS NPs in streptozotocin-induced diabetes Wistar albino rats orally treated for 28 days.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder characterized by the proliferation of Langerhans cells, a type of dendritic cell essential for immune response. While LCH predominantly affects children, its manifestation in adults, especially within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, is exceedingly rare. We present a unique case of a 56-year-old female with rare GI manifestations of LCH.
