Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by reduced social communication and repetitive behaviors. Altered neurogenesis, including disturbed neuronal migration, has been implicated in autism spectrum disorder. Using diffusion MRI, we previously identified neuronal migration pathways in the human fetal brain and hypothesized that similar pathways persist into adulthood, with differences in volume and microstructural characteristics between individuals with autism spectrum disorder and controls.

Maternal inflammation during pregnancy increases the offspring's risk of developing autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, and depression. Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated that maternal infections stimulate the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6), which can cross the placenta and fetal blood-brain barrier to alter brain development with functional and behavioral consequences. To model the effects of increased IL-6 between weeks 24-30 of human gestation, we injected male and female mice with 75 ng IL-6 twice daily, from P3 to P6.

A 29-year-old paint sprayer presented with mild lower back pain and fatigue related to prolonged standing and repetitive tasks in the first few weeks of pregnancy. An initial assessment included a review of her workstation, evaluation of posture, and standard prenatal tests such as routine blood work and ultrasound. These investigations showed normal fetal development and no complications.

Background And Aim: Human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) constitute a promising alternative for central nervous system (CNS) cell therapy. Unlike other human stem cells, hDPSCs can be differentiated, without genetic modification, to neural cells that secrete neuroprotective factors. However, a better understanding of their real capacity to give rise to functional neurons and integrate into synaptic networks is still needed.

An RCA product is a promising scaffold for the construction of DNA nanostructures, but so far, there is no RCA scaffold-based dynamic reconfigurable nanorobot for biological applications. In this contribution, we develop an intracellular stimuli-responsive reconfigurable coiled DNA nanosnake (N-Snake) by using incomplete aptamer-functionalized (A) DNA tetrahedrons (T) to fold a long tandemly repetitive DNA strand synthesized by rolling circle amplification reaction (R) with the help of palindromic fragment (P). A DNA-assembled product, ARTP, including spiked aptamers, can retain the structural integrity even if exposed to fetal bovine serum (FBS) for 24 h and displays substantially enhanced target molecule-dependent cellular internalization efficiency.
