The serum concentration and urinary excretion of flavonoids after the ingestion of guava, pineapple, and pomelo were determined using liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC-MS/MS). Each group of healthy volunteers was given 200 g of fresh fruit after overnight fasting and a 24-h flavonoid-free diet. The results demonstrate that only the glucuronic-conjugated metabolites of luteolin, quercetin, kaempferol, and myricetin were detected after fruit ingestion. The metabolites were first detected after 2 h, with the time to maximum concentration (T) at 6 h. The most abundant metabolites for guava, pineapple, and pomelo were the glucuronide metabolites of quercetin (AUC 5.4 ± 1.3 μg·h/mL), kaempferol (AUC 9.9 ± 2.3 μg·h/mL), and luteolin (AUC 6.4 ± 1.1 μg·h/mL), respectively. The flavonoids found in the 24-h urinary excretions were glucuronic- and mainly sulfate-conjugated metabolites. Quercetin metabolites were the most abundant after guava and pineapple ingestion, accounting for 900 and 700 μg, respectively. Luteolin metabolites were the most abundant after pomelo ingestion, accounting for 450 μg. The serum and urinary metabolite profiles suggested that guava and pineapple are good sources of quercetin, pineapple is a good source of kaempferol, and pomelo is a good source of luteolin. The study of flavonoid profiles may provide information for the selection of fruits as functional foods for their health benefits to help with various health conditions.

Background: The widespread use of pesticides for the protection of fruits has resulted in the presence of pesticide residue levels beyond their limit in fruits. This ensures their transfer to processed products, such as juices, posing a threat to human health. Therefore, an efficient and selective method is required for monitoring pesticide residues in fruit juices.

Background: Fruit crops, including tropical and subtropical fruits like Avocado (Persea americana), Fig (Ficus carica), Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera), Mango (Mangifera indica), Guava (Psidium guajava), Papaya (Carica papaya), Pineapple (Ananas comosus), and Banana (Musa acuminata) are economically vital, contributing significantly to global agricultural output, as classified by the FAO's World Programme for the Census of Agriculture. Advancements in next-generation sequencing, have transformed fruit crop breeding by providing in-depth genomic and transcriptomic data. RNA sequencing enables high-throughput analysis of gene expression, and functional genomics, crucial for addressing horticultural challenges and enhancing fruit production.

Background: Fruits are excellent sources of micronutrients; hence, their consumption is highly recommended. However, fruit peels, often discarded, despite some being edible have been reported to contain essential nutrients and antioxidants, which contribute to disease prevention and well-being.
Aim: This study sought to evaluate the micronutrient and antinutrient content of 10 edible fruit peels namely, orange, mango, pineapple, banana, lemon, mandarin, red apple, cucumber, guava and pawpaw peels.

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient that plays a critical role in many physiological processes in plants and animals. In humans, vitamin C is an antioxidant, reducing agent, and cofactor in diverse chemical processes. The established role of vitamin C as an antioxidant in plants is well recognized.
