Agriculture can have different effects on wildlife depending on land-use type and extensive/intensive practices. The aim of this study was to establish the significance of rice fields in Central Bulgaria as anuran habitats. We used Audiomoth acoustic loggers to record calling activity at three sites near the city of Plovdiv-one shallow pond and two rice fields-from June to September in 2022 and 2023. We registered the three most widespread species in the region-, and -and created pattern-matching models for them using the free web interface Arbimon, which enabled us to perform presence/absence counts and abundance estimates. At the beginning and the end of the rice vegetation period, water samples were collected and analysed for 62 substances. Substance concentrations were compared between ponds and with LC50 data from the available literature. We registered 19 and 21 substances in 2022 and 2023, respectively, with concentrations within the accepted limits, and although some metals were near risk levels, this was not reflected in the presence counts or the abundance estimates. The results indicated that frog activity was not related to any of the registered substances, but that it was positively correlated with daily rainfall and was higher in the rice fields.

Though the evidence for soil property could influence the antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) profiles is mounting, studies regarding the effect of soil permeability on soil ARGs patterns are still ignored. This study investigated the dynamic distribution of ARGs in paddy fields with different soil permeability over various rice growing stages, as well as revealed the abiotic and biotic factors that shaping ARGs profiles. Results indicate that soil with high permeability improved the ARGs abundance through elevating the available nutrients in the soil.

This study evaluated carcass weight and physicochemical properties of loin and leg meat parts of Saanen castrated goats (n = 4) reared by grazing for 5 months in an abandoned rice field with concentrate supplements, comparing with meat of goats (n = 4) reared by confined feeding with grass silage and concentrate. Carcass and meat part weights of goats in the grazing group were lower (p < 0.01) than confined group.

(TYLCV) poses a significant threat to tomato production, leading to severe yield losses. The current control strategies primarily rely on the use of pesticides, which are often nonselective and costly. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Rice ( L.) is a staple crop for nearly half of the global population and one of China's most extensively cultivated cereals. Heading date, a critical agronomic trait, determines the regional and seasonal adaptability of rice varieties.

The incorporation of rice straw (RS) and Chinese milk vetch (CMV) with reduced chemical fertilizers (CFs) is a viable solution to reduce the dependency on CF. However, limited research has been conducted to investigate the impact of CMV and RS with reduced CF on rice production. A field trial was conducted from 2018 to 2021 with six treatments: CK (no fertilizer), F100 (100% NPK fertilizer (CF)), MSF100 (100% CF+CMV and RS incorporation), MSF80 (80% CF+CMV+RS), MSF60 (60% CF+CMV+RS), and MSF40 (40% CF+CMV+RS).
