The present study evaluated water quality, immune responses, nutritional condition, and production of fry (0.29-0.31 g) reared in a Biofloc technology (BFT) system (C:N = 20:1; molasses as organic carbon source), compared to the traditional culture system (TS; farmer's practice). The experiment had stocking densities for the treatments of 17 (TS) and 22 (TS), 17 (BFTS), 22 (BFTS), and 27 (BFTS) fish/m. The fishes were fed at 3-10% of their body weight, and reared in cemented tanks for 90 days. Regarding water quality, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, and total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) levels varied significantly ( < 0.05) between the traditional and BFT tanks. The highest specific growth rate (SGR) was in the BFTS-reared fishes (4.11 ± 0.17) but the lowest was in the TS-fish (3.51 ± 0.05). The fish reared in BFT had higher levels of protein, lipids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, essential amino acids, hematocrit, and neutrophil than the fish reared in TS tanks. Moreover, 98.33% survival was recorded in the BFTS while 86.67% was in the TS. The highest BCR was estimated for the BFTS (1.22). Taking into account FCR and BCR values, a stocking density of 22 fry/m is likely practicable for an BFT system.

Background: This study aimed to assess the influence of different pretreatment protocols and antioxidants application on the shear bond strength (SBS) of universal adhesive to sound (SoD) and caries-induced dentin (CID).
Methods: One hundred and twenty posterior teeth had their occlusal enamel removed, then the specimens were divided into two main groups according to dentin substrates; SoD and CID, three subgroups according to pretreatments protocols control (no pretreatment), NaOCl-treated, and Er, Cr:YSGG-treated and two divisions according to antioxidant application (with and without sodium ascorbate (SA) application). All-Bond Universal (ABU) universal adhesives was applied in self-etch (SE) mode then resin composite discs were built.

The formation of broodstock gametes is closely linked to the yield and quality in aquaculture production, yet molecular mechanisms underlying this process remain insufficiently understood. The noble scallop Chlamys nobilis, an economically significant dioecious bivalve species, serves as an excellent model for studying gametogenesis. In this study, the adult scallops with testis at different developmental stage were chosen for histological examination and transcriptome analysis to dig genes related gonad development.

Providing different grades of water is a promising solution to address the challenges of urban water supply, including water quality, quantity, and energy consumption. However, quantifying the effectiveness of this strategy and understanding its economic, environmental, and social impacts remain significant challenges. This study introduces a simulation-based method to predict household water use and evaluate the applicability and sustainability of the water supply system.

The efficient removal of Mn(II) from wastewater is crucial for safeguarding water quality, yet existing adsorbents face significant challenges, including high costs, poor resistance to ionic interference, and scalability limitations. This study addresses these challenges by utilizing abundant natural sandy sediment (SS) as a substrate to load unsaturated MnO via in-situ oxidation, creating a novel adsorbent (MOSS). MOSS exhibits a remarkable Mn(II) adsorption capacity of 1.
