Intestinal microorganisms are closely related to the health, development, and production performance of animals and can also provide basic information for us to fully understand and explore the germplasm characteristics and traits of local chicken breeds. In this experiment, we used five local Chinese chicken breeds as research materials; metagenomic sequencing technology was used to explore the differences in the composition of intestinal microorganisms in different breeds, and it was found that each local chicken breed had unique unigenes, of which Silkies had the most, with a total of 12,948. GO and KEGG analyses found that the biological processes most enriched by differential functional genes include genetic coding, macromolecular transport, protein synthesis, and molecular functions such as glycoprotein binding, protein hydrolysis, etc. Each breed is enriched with specific pathways, such as Anyi tile-like gray chickens, which are enriched with pathways related to disease resistance, while Gamecocks' enrichment is related to amino acid metabolism. Random Forest and LEfSe analyses revealed specific species of intestinal microorganisms in the cecum of different breeds, such as , which is associated with melanin deposition in Silkies. Therefore, we infer that gut microorganisms are closely related to the formation of chicken breed characteristics, and the results of this experiment can provide a theoretical basis for the discovery of high-quality traits and the improvement of feeding conditions in the future.

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are key components of the tumor microenvironment (TME) and serve as prognostic markers for breast cancer. Patients with high TIL infiltration generally experience better clinical outcomes and extended survival compared to those with low TIL infiltration. However, as the TME is highly complex and TIL subtypes perform distinct biological functions, TILs may only provide an approximate indication of tumor immune status, potentially leading to biased prognostic results.

Background: During the last decades, the advancements in synthetic biology opened the doors for a profusion of cost-effective, fast, and ecologically friendly medical applications priorly unimaginable. Following the trend, the genetic engineering of the baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, propelled its status from an instrumental ally in the food industry to a therapy and prophylaxis aid.
Main Text: In this review, we scrutinize the main applications of engineered S.

Objective: The gut is involved in the development of acute pancreatitis (AP). Increased focus is being given to the role of gut microbiota in the pathogenesis of AP. Nevertheless, there is currently no available evidence regarding the composition of fungal microorganisms in the intestines of patients with AP.

17α-methyltestosterone (17α-MT) is prevalent in the aqueous environment, but its toxicological profile remains incomplete. This study analyzed the effects of different 17α-MT concentrations on the growth performance, mortality, sex ratio, liver physiological metabolism, and intestinal microorganisms of Takifugu fasciatus, and on the microorganisms composition of its culture environment. Results showed that 17α-MT increased the male ratio and mortality but inhibited the growth of T.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the changes in gut microbiota and its metabolites in different pathophysiological stages of doxorubicin (DOX)-induced heart failure (DIHF) and the relationship between gut microbiota and metabolites in various degrees of DIHF.
Materials And Methods: C57BL/6 J mice were injected intraperitoneally with 5 mg/kg of DOX once a week for 5 consecutive weeks. At different times after injection, the cardiac function and histopathological analysis was conducted, the serum levels of creatine kinase (CK), CK-MB, lactic dehydrogenase, and cardiac troponin T were determined.
