Right ventricular heart failure (RV HF) is the leading cause of death in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Relevance of the low-risk status assessment using available diagnostic tools requires a reliable confirmation. The study aimed to evaluate right ventricular perfusion and glucose metabolism using positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) with [13N]-ammonia and [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]-FDG) in 30 IPAH patients (33.

Thromboxane A (TXA), a prothrombotic factor that induces platelet aggregation and thrombosis, acts as a vasoconstrictor by activating TXA receptors (TP receptors). TXA is extremely unstable and metabolizes into three major metabolites: 2,3-dinor thromboxane B (2,3-dinor-TXB), 11-dehydro TXB(11-dh-TXB), and 11-dehydro-2,3-dinor TXB(11-dh-2,3-dinor-TXB). 8-Iso-prostaglandin F(8-iso-PGF), a prostaglandin-like compound widely considered the best biomarker of oxidative stress, can also activate TP receptors.

Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a leading cause of low back pain, often linked to inflammation and pyroptosis in nucleus pulposus (NP) cells. The role of Periostin (POSTN) in IDD remains unclear.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the influence of POSTN on pyroptosis and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in NP cells during IDD.

Brain anatomy plays a key role in complex behaviors and mental disorders that are sexually divergent. While our understanding of the sex differences in the brain anatomy remains relatively limited, particularly of the underlying genetic and molecular mechanisms that contribute to these differences. We performed the largest study of sex differences in brain volumes (N = 33,208) by examining sex differences both in the raw brain volumes and after controlling the whole brain volumes.

Background: Acute ischemic lesions seen on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are associated with poor intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) outcomes, but drivers for these lesions are unknown. Rapid hemoglobin decrements occur in the initial days after ICH and may impair brain oxygen delivery. We investigated whether acute hemoglobin decrements after ICH are associated with MRI ischemic lesions and poor long-term ICH outcomes.
