Hair dermal papilla cells (hDPCs) play a crucial role in hair growth and regeneration, and their function is influenced by nutrient and oxygen supply. A microenvironment with significantly low oxygen (O) levels, known as anoxic conditions (<0.2%) due to oxygen deficiency, hinders hDPC promotion and retards hair regrowth. Here, a nanoemulsion (NE) based on perfluorooctyl bromide (PFOB), a member of the perfluorocarbon family, is presented to provide a sustainable O supply and maintain physical stability . The PFOB-NE has been shown to continuously release oxygen for 36 h, increasing and maintaining the O concentration in the anoxic microenvironment of up to 0.8%. This sustainable O supply using PFOB-NE has promoted hDPC growth and also induced a complex cascade of effects. These effects encompass regulation inhibiting lactate accumulation caused oxygen deficiency, increasing lactate dehydrogenase activity, and promoting the expression of genes, such as the hypoxia-inducible factor 1 family and NADPH oxidase 4 under anoxic conditions. Sustained O supply is shown to enhance human hair organ elongation approximately four times compared to the control under anoxic conditions. In conclusion, the perfluorocarbon-based NE containing oxygen proves to be an important strategic tool for improving hair growth and alleviating hair loss.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of different types of low level laser treatment (LLLT) in reducing pain levels, changing oxygen saturation and bite force in patients with myofacial pain syndrome (MPS). 45 patients were randomly assigned to three groups: Group 1 (GRR laser, n = 15) received LLLT with Gallium-Aluminium-Arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser with a wavelength of 904 nm and red laser with a wavelength of 650 nm over masseter muscle region. Group 2 (Nd: YAG laser, n = 15) were treated with Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm and the same protocol with Nd: YAG laser was performed in the Group 3 (placebo, n = 15) using sham device.

Effective storage and utilization of limited donor corneal resources are in high demand to alleviate the shortage of donor corneal tissue. Here, we designed a static air-lifted organ culture system equipped with a protective coverage membrane, namely, an air-lifted OC-P system, to provide a biomimetic physiological environment for full-thickness corneal preservation. The air-lifted OC-P system features a unique collagen-based protective coverage membrane that can offer a moist, oxygen-rich environment for corneal epithelium, produce an appropriate intraocular pressure onto the cornea by gravity, and facilitate the maintenance of the organ culture medium level for nutrient supply during corneal preservation.

Unlabelled: 20-carbon fatty acid-derived eicosanoids are versatile signaling oxylipins in mammals. In particular, a group of eicosanoids termed prostanoids are involved in multiple physiological processes, such as reproduction and immune responses. Although some eicosanoids such as prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) have been detected in some insect species, molecular mechanisms of eicosanoid synthesis and signal transduction in insects have been poorly investigated.

The heart, with its complex structural and functional characteristics, plays a critical role in sustaining life by pumping blood throughout the entire body to supply nutrients and oxygen. Engineered heart tissues have been introduced to reproduce heart functions to understand the pathophysiological properties of the heart and to test and develop potential therapeutics. Although numerous studies have been conducted in various fields to increase the functionality of heart tissue to be similar to reality, there are still many difficulties in reproducing the blood-pumping function of the heart.
