Extraction of valuable metals besides silica from high-alumina fly ash is one of the most important high-value utilization pathways. However, it is difficult to realize high-efficiency extraction due to the stable structure of quartz and mullite. In this paper, mineral phase transformation for valuable metal recovery and mesoporous silica preparation from fly ash by a selective acid leaching method was proposed. The mineral phase transformation, dissolution behavior of each metal, and pore structure of fly ash derived mesoporous silica were systematically investigated. The results show that the co-activation of fly ash by NaCO-KCO formed the phases of kalsilite and (Na, K)AlSiO. During the acid leaching process, Al, Li, and Ga could be leached with the efficiencies of 86.17%, 89%, and 80% in the FK system. In the FN system, the efficiencies of Al, Li, and Ga are 92.38%, 95%, and 83%, respectively. The crystal plane (002) was destroyed for kaliophilite while all the crystal planes were destroyed for nepheline. With the increase of HCl solution concentration, the porous silica exhibited the same change order of pore shape. The pore structure of as-prepared porous silica was type IV and the hysteresis loop was type H3, and the specific surface areas could be 565.54, 448.02, and 746.76 m g, respectively. Finally, the leaching liquors can be used to produce crystal aluminum chloride, lithium carbonate and gallium. This paper might provide technical support for full recycling of high-value resources from fly ash.

The combined application of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) has achieved remarkable results in coal quality analysis by leveraging NIRS's sensitivity to organic compounds and XRF's reliability for inorganic composition. However, variations in particle size distribution negatively affect the diffuse reflectance of NIRS and the fluorescence signal intensities of XRF, leading to decreased accuracy and repeatability in predictions. To address this issue, this study innovatively proposes a particle size correction method that integrates image processing and deep learning.

Effect of Meloidogyne incognita and Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata (Psa) was observed singly, together and pre and post inoculations in 4 soil types on plant growth, parameters, chlorophyll, carotenoid and proline contents of beetroot (Beta vulgaris L). Plant growth, chlorophyll and carotenoid contents were greater in loam soil followed by 20% fly ash soil, 10% fly ash plus 10% sand amended soil and least in 20 % sand mix soil.

The retention and mobility of arsenic (As) in soil depend on various physical and chemical factors. The knowledge of the sorption-desorption chemistry of As in soil is necessary for predicting the fate and behavior of As in soil environments. Therefore, this study assessed different organic (sugarcane bagasse and vermicompost) and inorganic amendments (steel slag and fly ash) for their impact on sorption-desorption of As in texturally different contaminated soils (of sandy clay (SC) and sandy clay loam (SCL) texture) to understand the effect of amendments on As retention and mobility.

Alkaline-activation technology was an effective means of disposing of low-activity and heavy-metal-containing industrial solid wastes. In this paper, alkali-activated converter steel slag and municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (MSWIFA) were prepared by modulating alkali-activation conditions. The effect of alkali-activation conditions on microstructure of C-(A)-S-H and leaching of lead and zinc, pore solution pH, and the correlation among them were revealed.

Invincible growth in waste production is the consequence of overpopulation, which should be addressed to reduce the occupied landfill surface needed for their disposal and to alleviate the leachate of extremely hazardous material into the soil and water bodies. In this study, copper (Cu) was extracted from fly ash of a municipal solid waste incinerator by an electro-chemical method, which was optimized to recover the highest amount of Cu, and then it was chelated with 4-aminobenzoic acid (AM) and terephthalic acid (TM) in an aqueous phase. The obtained composites were then heated to form a porous calcinated copper-carbon composite and utilized to adsorb the forever contaminant of PFOS from aqueous solutions.
