We report two sisters with granuloma annulare who possessed identical histocompatibility antigens. The occurrence of granuloma annulare in families and the demonstration of particular human lymphocyte antigens (HLA) with granuloma annulare may indicate that hereditarily predisposed individuals could develop this specific cell-mediated immune reaction in response to an unknown antigen (e.g., connective tissue or infectious or toxic substances).

Granuloma annulare (GA) is an idiopathic inflammatory skin condition with a chronic and unpredictable course. Although localized GA is usually cleared with topical or systemic corticosteroids, generalized GA is often difficult to treat owing to the lack of treatment options and recurrence with treatment. Recent evidence has helped to elucidate the etiology behind GA, with growing confirmation for the use of JAK inhibitors as a possible treatment for GA.

Granuloma annulare (GA) is a benign inflammatory skin condition that most commonly presents on the dorsal surfaces of the hands and feet. The etiology of GA is unknown; however, it has been associated with multiple triggers, including malignancy and targeted cancer therapy drugs.
