Thiahexaphyrinone and thia-dipyrrin-appended corrorin have been synthesized. Surprisingly, further oxidation of compound with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) in dichloromethane afforded dimer with two molecules of compound linked at the α-carbon atoms of the thienyl units. Treatment of compound with DDQ in MeOH and SnCl in tetrahydrofuran/HO afforded the dimethoxy-attached dimer and hydrogenated dihydroxy-attached dimer , respectively. These results provide the first examples for synthesizing thiophene-linked porphyrinoid dimers with tunable near-infrared absorption and chirality.

TPX2 is an elongated molecule containing multiple α-helical repeats. It stabilizes microtubules (MTs), promotes MT nucleation, and is essential for spindle assembly. However, the molecular basis of how TPX2 performs these functions remains elusive.

The adhesion of nanoparticles to lipid vesicles causes curvature deformations to the membrane to an extent determined by the competition between the adhesive interaction and the membrane's elasticity. These deformations can extend over length scales larger than the size of a nanoparticle, leading to an effective membrane-curvature-mediated interaction between nanoparticles. Nanoparticles with uniform surfaces tend to aggregate into unidimensionally close-packed clusters at moderate adhesion strengths and endocytose at high adhesion strengths.

Bilayer graphene ribbons (GRs) hold great promise for the fabrication of next-generation nanodevices, thanks to unparalleled electronic properties, especially the tunable bandgap in association with twist angle, ribbon width, edge structure, and interlayer coupling. A common challenge in manufacturing bilayer GRs via templated chemical vapor deposition (CVD) approach is uncontrollable dewetting of micro- and nano-scaled patterned metal substrates. Herein, a confined CVD synthetic strategy of bilayer GR arrays is proposed, by utilizing the bifunctional Ni as a buffered adhesion layer to regulate the anisotropic dewetting of metal film in the V-groove and as a carbon-dissolution regulated metal to initiate the bilayer nucleation.

Progress in understanding the infrared spectrum of the H2O-O2 dimer.

Spectra of the weakly bound H2O-O2 dimer are studied in the region of the H2O ν2 band using a tunable quantum cascade laser to probe a pulsed supersonic slit jet expansion. These are the first gas-phase infrared spectra of H2O-O2 and among only a few such results for O2-containing complexes. Almost 100 infrared lines are assigned based on the ground state combination differences from the microwave spectrum of H2O-O2.

Plasmon chirality has garnered significant interest in sensing application due to its strong electromagnetic field localization and highly tunable optical properties. Understanding the effects of mode coupling in chiral structures on chiral optical activity is particularly important for advancing this field. In this work, we numerically investigate the circular dichroism (CD) of elliptical nanodisk dimers arranged in an up-and-down configuration with a specific rotation angle.
