In this work, strategies for the detection of pyrimidine-rich DNA target sequences based on the formation of duplex and antiparallel triplex structures are studied. The presence of the target is detected from the changes in fluorescence of silver nanoclusters stabilized by the corresponding complementary DNA probes. In all cases, the formation of intermolecular structures has been assessed by means of melting experiments and multivariate analysis.

Background: Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) has been used for over 50 years to treat chronic pain by delivering electrical pulses through small electrodes placed near targeted peripheral nerves those outside the brain and spinal cord. Early PNS systems often required invasive neurosurgical procedures. However, since 2015, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved percutaneously implanted PNS leads and neurostimulators offering a much less invasive, non-opioid option for managing recalcitrant chronic pain.

Background: The US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) held patient-focused listening sessions in Fall 2023 for each of the first ten drugs selected for the Inflation Reduction Act's (IRA) Drug Price Negotiation Program (DPNP). This study aimed to quantitatively describe speaker input at the sessions, including the absolute and relative time allocated to key areas of interest for the DPNP.
Methods: In this descriptive analysis of speaker remarks from ten CMS-hosted patient-focused listening sessions, speaker demographics were examined using video streams, time-stamped transcripts, public data, contextual clues, validated tools, and visual assessment when necessary.

Artificial intelligence (AI) applications are becoming increasingly common in radiology. However, ensuring reliable operation and expected clinical benefits remains a challenge. A systematic testing process aims to facilitate clinical deployment by confirming software applicability to local patient populations, practises, adherence to regulatory and safety requirements, and compatibility with existing systems.

In the realm of nanomaterials, atomically precise quasi-molecular gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) play a prime role due to their unique, stable, and highly tunable optical properties. They are extensively structure-engineered for modulation of surface electronic states toward long wavelength photoluminescence, particularly in the NIR-II (1000 to 1700 nm) window. Contrast agents with NIR-II emission can potentially transform optical imaging in terms of higher spatial resolution, deeper tissue penetration, and reduced tissue autofluorescence.
