Objective: The aim of these studies was to ascertain if oil is harmful in both the acute and subchronic states.

Methods: Wistar rats of both sexes were used in an acute toxicity test, and the fatal dosage (LD50) of oral oil was greater than 27.6 g/kg bw. Rats were gavaged with oil at dosages of 0.00, 0.92, 1.84, and 3.68 g/kg bw per day for 90 days. In addition, satellite groups were established in the control and high-dose groups for a 28-day recovery period. The following factors were assessed: mortality, clinical anomalies, body weight, food intake, hematological, serum biochemistry, urine, gross necropsy, and histology.

Results: There were no observable toxicity-related changes in any of the three dosage groups. There is no toxicological relevance to the change in the high-dose hematological indicator PLT at the conclusion of the recovery period because it was within the usual range for this strain in our laboratory. The test material did not result in any pathological alterations, according to a pathological examination.

Conclusion: Since the results of the current study, the no-observed-adverse-effect-level (NOAEL) for oil in rats has been determined to be greater than 3.68 g/kg bw.

Pubertal stress accelerates copulation in adult male rats: Mitigating effects of a high-calorie diet in adulthood.

The pubertal phase involves significant brain reorganization, where external stressors and diet can profoundly influence long-term behavioral outcomes. In this study, we investigated the interaction between acute pubertal stress (via immune challenge) and a hypercaloric diet in adulthood on the copulatory sexual behavior of male Wistar rats. At postnatal day (PND) 35, pubertal males received a single injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 1.

Water pollution caused by ash from grassland fires alters the molecular, biochemical, and morphological biomarkers of non-biting midge larvae.

The frequency and intensity of wildfires have been increasing in many parts of the world, which may result in biodiversity loss. Wildfires can devastate plant communities, generating toxic ash that pollutes watercourses through runoff. However, our understanding of the effects of ash exposure on aquatic biodiversity is still limited.

Acute electrical stimulation of the common peroneal nerve (cPNS) has been shown to cause an immediate reduction in systolic blood pressure (SBP) in spontaneous hypertense rats (SHR), but the effect of this treatment in sub-chronic ambulatory SBP is unknown. Here we developed an implantable wireless WNClip neural stimulator to test the efficacy of 5-week cPNS as a treatment for hypertension. Daily cPNS 2 Hz monophasic stimulation at threshold for 8 minutes every day for five weeks, reduced SBP in WKY animals by -4 mm Hg, and in SHR animals by -21 mmHg in week 5 (p < 0.

(S)-Equol is a chemically synthesized nutraceutical compound and its consumption provides several health benefits for humans. The new nutraceutical, enantiopure (S)-Equol was studied for acute and sub-chronic toxicity in Sprague Dawley Rats. The oral acute toxicity study showed that (S)-Equol is safe > 2000-5000 mg/kg body weight and it classified into GHS category 5/Unclassified.
