Background: The purpose of this research was to establish the primary electron beam characteristics for an Elekta Synergy linear accelerator. In this task, we take advantage of the PRIMO Monte Carlo software, where the model developed contains the majority of the component materials of the Linac.
Materials And Methods: For all energies, the Elekta Linac electron mode and 14 × 14 cm applicator were chosen. To obtain percentage depth dose (PDD) curves, a homogeneous water phantom was voxelized in a 1 × 1 × 0.1 cm grid along the central axis. At the reference depth, the dose profile was recorded in 0.1 × 1 × 1 cm voxels. Iterative changes were made to the initial beams mean energy and full width at half maximum (FWHM) of energy in order to keep the conformity of the simulated and measured dose curves within. To confirm simulation results, the Gamma analysis was performed with acceptance criteria of 2 mm - 2%. From the validated calculation, the parameters of the PDD and profile curve (R100, R50, Rp, and field size) were collected.
Results: Initial mean energies of 7.3, 9.85, 12.9, and 15.7 MeV were obtained for nominal energies of 6, 9, 12, and 15, respectively. The PRIMO Monte Carlo model for Elekta Synergy was precisely validated.
Conclusions: PRIMO is an easy-to-use software program that can calculate dose distribution in water phantoms.

Background: The spleen, as the body's largest peripheral immune organ and a crucial source of circulating monocytes, plays a significant role in the acute inflammatory response of spleen-derived macrophages to diseases. Therefore, studying the impact and mechanism of X-ray irradiation on spleen-derived macrophages' inflammatory responses is of great importance.
Method: Extracted and identified mice splenic macrophages were divided into four groups: control group, LPS and ATP co-stimulated non-irradiated group, LPS and ATP co-stimulated group irradiated after 6 h, and LPS and ATP co-stimulated group irradiated after 12 h In the LPS and ATP co-stimulated groups, LPS (1μg/ml) and ATP (5mmol/L) were added to establish an inflammatory model in mice splenic macrophages.

Aims: The objective was to validate the initial beam parameters of the Davao Doctors Hospital's 6 MV Elekta Synergy Platform linac, which performs to the specification of the commissioning data per our records using the gamma-index analysis toolkit integrated inside PRIMO software.
Materials And Methods: In PRIMO, a sequence of optimization processes is performed, in which the measured and simulated percent depth dose (PDD) and lateral beam profiles at various depths are compared, using the stringent gamma-index passing rate at 1%/1 mm criteria (GPR11). Using four fields of sizes 3 cm × 3 cm, 4 cm × 4 cm, 5 cm × 5 cm, and 10 cm × 10 cm, the dose is calculated on a water phantom measuring 16.

Hippocampus protection, as an organ at risk in brain radiotherapy, might protect patients' quality of life. Prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) has been used traditionally in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients as it increases survival. This study aimed to discover the contributing parameters for a successful PCI with simultaneous protection of the hippocampus by using three different treatment machines.

Purpose: The purpose of this work was to detail our center's experience in transitioning from a Co-60 treatment technique to an intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) based lateral-field extended source-to-axis distance (e-SAD) technique for total body irradiation (TBI).
Materials And Methods: An existing beam model in RayStation v.10A was validated for the use of e-SAD TBI treatments.
