Malalignment and lack of surgeon experience are cited as risk factors for prosthetic failure and the need for subsequent revision surgery in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Various conventional (CON) and computer-assisted surgical (CAS) methods have been developed to try and prevent malalignment and limit outliers. One of these methods is through an accelerometer-based CAS (aCAS), which intraoperatively helps determine the angulation and amount of resection necessary to restore alignment in TKA.

Recently, Conte et al. generalized the longest-common prefix (LCP) array from strings to Wheeler DFAs, and they showed that it can be used to efficiently determine matching statistics on a Wheeler DFA [DCC 2023]. However, storing the LCP array requires bits, being the number of states, while the compact representation of Wheeler DFAs often requires much less space.

Purpose: Few studies exist regarding sagittal alignment describing femur morphology in navigation-aided surgery. This study investigated the three-dimensional (3D) sagittal femoral alignment of the whole femur.
Methods: Seventy-three consecutive patients (59 females, 14 males, mean age: 76.

Purpose: We hypothesized that the individual bone geometry is the most important variable to achieve acceptable soft tissue balancing during total knee arthroplasty.
Methods: Long-standing 3-foot films and computer navigation data from 90 patients with varus (n = 45) or valgus deformity (n = 45) were utilized who underwent navigated total knee arthroplasty. Mean age was 65 ± 8 years with 50 women and 40 men.
