Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the self- and observer ratings of capacity limitations in patients with neurological conditions. Research on this topic is relevant for assessing the patients' ability to participate in work and social life and improving collaborative patient-clinician relationships.
Method: The self- and observer ratings of capacity limitations in a sample of = 245 patients with neurological conditions from a rehabilitation facility were compared and assessed using the short rating of activity limitations and participation restrictions in mental disorders according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (Mini-ICF-APP) and the equivalent self-rating questionnaire (Mini-ICF-APP-S).
Results: Paired-samples -tests revealed significant differences between the self- and observer ratings for six out of 13 capacity dimensions. On average, the patients rated the capacity dimensions , , and as significantly less limited, in comparison to the observers (small to medium effect sizes). The self-ratings for limitation of and were only marginally higher than the observer ratings.
Conclusions: The findings show that psychological capacity limitations occur in patients with neurological conditions. In clinical practice, limitations in each capacity dimension and discrepancies in patient- and clinician-ratings should be thoroughly assessed. This is especially relevant in patients with neurological conditions who have a potential tendency to underestimate or deny their disability.

Aim: Intraoperative lung-protective ventilation strategies (LPVS) have been shown to improve lung oxygenation and prevent postoperative pulmonary problems in surgical patients. However, the application of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP)-based LPVS in emergency traumatic brain injury (TBI) has not been thoroughly explored. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of drive pressure-guided individualized PEEP on perioperative pulmonary oxygenation, postoperative pulmonary complications, and recovery from neurological injury in patients with TBI.

Aim: This systematic review aims to synthesize the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, treatment strategies, and outcomes of spinal dumbbell meningiomas to enhance understanding and improve patient management.
Methods: Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, four major databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) were searched until June 2024. Studies included patients diagnosed with spinal dumbbell intradural-extradural meningiomas, focusing on patient demographics, tumor characteristics, diagnostic methods, treatment modalities, and clinical outcomes.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant gliomas are the most common malignant primary brain tumors in young adults. This condition imposes a substantial burden on patients and their caregivers, marked by neurocognitive deficits and high mortality rates due to tumor progression, coupled with significant morbidity from current treatment modalities. Although surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy improve survival, these treatments can adversely affect cognitive function, quality of life, finances, employment status, and overall independence.

Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a severe neurological disease characterized by significant motor, sensory, and autonomic dysfunctions. SCI is a major global disability cause, often resulting in long-term neurological impairments due to the impeded regeneration and remyelination of axons. A SCI interferes with communication between the brain and the spinal cord networks that control neurological functions.

Aims: The nucleus basalis of Meynert (NBM) is a major source of cholinergic innervation in the central nervous system. We aimed to investigate the characteristics of structural and functional alterations in the NBM and its projections in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and the effects of computerized cognitive training (CCT).
Methods: Forty-five patients with MCI and 45 cognitively unimpaired controls (CUCs) were recruited.
