Strain San01 is isolated from the soil of ant-nest found in the tea estate of Darjeeling, India. The morphology, biochemical, as well as the molecular characteristics, proved that San01 belonged to the genus The average nucleotide identity (ANI) value between the genome sequence of the studied strain and its closest phylogenetic neighbors were very low and also could be distinguished from its closest neighbour with broad range of phenotypic data. The draft genome sequence of isolate San01 (NZ_RZYA00000000.1) was estimated to be 9.12 Mbp in size with 71.2% of GC content and it encompasses 39 biosynthetic gene clusters that emphasize the biotechnological potential of this isolateBased on the phenotypic, genetic and genomic data, isolate San01 (=JCM 34633 = NCTC 14543) merits to be recognized as a type strain of a novel species and hereby propose the name sp. nov. Incidentally, this is the first report on genomes from Darjeeling, India.

The development of synthetic methodologies that promote greener reactions have become so essential that it has slowly shaped the way chemists think about the construction of physiologically and chemically active compounds. The acid-catalyzed iminoketone - aldehyde condensations leading to Hydroxy imidazole -oxides serve as robust strategies for forming C-N bonds. Considering all the existing challenges that come with the use of solvent and energy-intensive methodologies, herein a green synthetic strategy using ultrasound with optimization of reaction conditions and thorough investigation into the mechanism for obtaining the best yields are reported.

Objectives: To evaluate the role of serum procalcitonin (PCT) as a diagnostic tool to differentiate bacterial sepsis from flare-ups during febrile episodes in children with known rheumatic disorders compared to other inflammatory markers like C-reactive protein (CRP), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
Methods: Previously diagnosed patients with known rheumatic disorders presenting in emergency or outpatient departments with febrile episodes were included in the study. Blood samples were collected upon admission to test for signs of infection, including serum PCT levels with routine laboratory and radiological tests.

Drought stress remains a serious concern in L. var , cultivar Satabdi (IET4786) production, particularly during the earliest growth phases, ultimately affecting yield due to the recent trend of delayed rain arrival in West Bengal, India. This study aimed to develop a cost-effective strategy to improve the drought tolerance capacity of rice seedlings by priming the seeds with flavonoid-enriched extract (FEE) of French marigold () petals to withstand the initial drought milieu.

More and more research is now being focused on the mercury contamination of remote mountain environments. This study aimed to explore the mountain soil of Tiger Hill, Darjeeling, through the lens of its mercury tolerant bacterial microbiome to characterize regional mercury pollution and isolate strains with mercury bioremediation potential. The soil bacteria isolated from the region displayed an extreme tolerance to mercury at previously unseen levels of up to 7 mg/mL.

This study offers considerable information on plant wealth of therapeutic importance used traditionally by the residents of 11 villages under three subdivisions of Kurseong, Darjeeling Sadar, and Mirik in the Darjeeling District, West Bengal. For the acquisition of ethnomedicinal information, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 47 informants, of whom 11 persons were herbalists and 36 were knowledgeable persons. Free prior informed consent was obtained from each participant prior to the collection of field data.
