Plain simulations and enhanced sampling unveil a novel siderocalin (Scn) recognition mode for An-Ent (where An = actinides and Ent = enterobactin) complexes and identify a "seesaw" relationship between actinide affinity to Ent and Scn recognition to an An-Ent complex. Electrostatic interactions predominantly govern competitive binding in both processes. Additionally, hydrolysis-induced negative charge, water expulsion-driven entropy, and Ent's conformational adaptability collectively enhance high-affinity recognition.

Colorimetric chemosensors L and L, based on isoniazid hydrazones, have been designed for the highly sensitive and selective recognition of CN ion. Competing experiments were conducted with various other anions such as F, Cl, Br, I, SCN, ClO, ClO, NO, HPO, SO, and HSO in an acetonitrile solution. In the UV-Vis spectra, a bathochromic shift in the absorption bands of both hydrazones was observed following the addition of cyanide.

The soybean cyst nematode (SCN; Heterodera glycines Ichinohe) is a significant agricultural pest that causes extensive damage to soybean production worldwide. Second-stage juveniles (J2s) of the SCN migrate through the soil and infest the roots of host plants in response to certain chemical substances secreted from the host roots. Therefore, controlling SCN chemotaxis could be an effective strategy for its management.

In this article, a nanosurface molecularly imprinted polymer (MQD@MIP) resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) spectral probe for SCN was prepared by sol-gel method, using Mxene quantum dot as a matrix, thiocyanate (SCN) as a template ion, (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) as a functional monomer, tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) as the cross-linker, and ammonia as the initiator. The probe produced an RRS peak at 370 nm and exhibits a strong RRS energy transfer (RRS-ET) effect when the MQD@MIP probe identifies SCN. As the concentration of SCN increased, the RRS-ET was enhanced, and the signal value of the system decreased linearly at 370 nm, with a determination range of 0.
