Background: The COVID-19 pandemic created complex challenges regarding the timing and appropriateness of do-not-attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DNACPR) and/or Do Not Intubate (DNI) code status orders. This paper sought to determine differences in utilization of DNACPR and/or DNI orders during different time periods of the COVID-19 pandemic, including prevalence, predictors, timing, and outcomes associated with having a documented DNACPR and/or DNI order in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.
Methods: A cohort study of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 at two hospitals located in the Midwest.

Background: Data on patient characteristics and determinants of serious outcomes for acutely admitted patients with infections who do not fulfill the sepsis criteria are sparse. The study aimed to characterize acutely admitted emergency department (ED) patients with infections and a composite outcome of in-hospital mortality or transfer to the intensive care unit without fulfilling the criteria for sepsis and to examine predictors of the composite outcome.
Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from a prospective observational study of patients with suspected bacterial infection admitted to the ED between October 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.

Aims: To evaluate, in UK acute hospitals, the early implementation of the Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment (ReSPECT), which embeds cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) recommendations within wider emergency treatment plans. To understand for whom and how the process was being used and the quality of form completion.
Methods: A retrospective observational study evaluating emergency care and treatment planning approaches used in acute UK hospitals (2015-2019), and in six English hospital trusts the extent of ReSPECT use, patient characteristics and completion quality in a sample 3000 patient case notes.
