Daptomycin (DAP) represents an interesting alternative to treat methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infections. Different mechanisms of DAP resistance have been described; however, in vivo-acquired resistance is uncharacterized. This study described the phenotypic and genotypic evolution of MRSA strains that became resistant to DAP in two unrelated patients with bacteremia under DAP treatment, in two hospitals in the South of France. DAP MICs were determined using broth microdilution method on the pairs of isogenic (DAP-S/DAP-R) isolated from bloodstream cultures. Whole genome sequencing was carried out using Illumina MiSeq Sequencing system. The two cases revealed DAP-R acquisition by MRSA strains within three weeks in patients treated by DAP. The isolates belonged to the widespread ST5 (patient A) and ST8 (patient B) lineages and were of -type t777 and t622, respectively. SNP analysis comparing each DAP-S/DAP-R pair confirmed that the isolates were isogenic. The causative mutations were identified in MprF (Multiple peptide resistance Factor) protein: L826F (Patient A) and S295L (Patient B), and in Cls protein: R228H (Patient B). These proteins encoded both proteins of the lipid biosynthetic enzymes. The resistance to DAP is particularly poorly described whereas DAP is highly prescribed to treat MRSA. Our study highlights the non-systematic cross-resistance between DAP and glycopeptides and the importance of monitoring DAP MIC in persistent MRSA bacteremia.

Wetlands are a crucial component of the earth's socio-ecological structure, providing significant ecosystem services to people. Changes in wetlands, driven by both natural and manmade causes, are altering these ecosystem services. Although Bangladesh is developing, natural resources like wetlands are changing in the country at different scales, with urban areas experiencing significant impacts.

Autophagy plays an important role in responding to necrotrophic pathogens and plant signal hormones. Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a class of natural steroidal phytohormones that effectively regulated the disease resistance responses in grape. However, the molecular mechanism of BR-autophagy networks responsible for activation of host defense against gray mold remained to be elucidated.

Algebraic structures play a vital role in securing important data. These structures are utilized to construct the non-linear components of block ciphers. Since constructing non-linear components through algebraic structures is crucial for the confusion aspects of encryption schemes, relying solely on these structures can result in limited key spaces.

Background: Since patients with congenital heart defects (CHD) frequently require life-long medical care and repeat invasive treatment, radiation exposure during interventional procedures is a relevant issue concerning potential radiation related risks. Therefore, an analysis on radiation data from the German Registry for Cardiac Operations and Interventions in patients with CHD was performed.
Methods: From January 2012 until December 2020 a total of 28,374 cardiac catheter interventions were recorded.
