Human medial parietal cortex (MPC) is recruited during multiple cognitive processes. Previously, we demonstrated regions specific to recall of people or places and proposed that the functional organization of MPC mirrors the category selectivity defining the medial-lateral axis of ventral temporal cortex (VTC). However, prior work considered recall of people and places only and VTC also shows object-selectivity sandwiched between face- and scene-selective regions.

The functional organization of the human object vision pathway distinguishes between animate and inanimate objects. To understand animacy perception, we explore the case of zoomorphic objects resembling animals. While the perception of these objects as animal-like seems obvious to humans, such "Animal bias" is a striking discrepancy between the human brain and deep neural networks (DNNs).

Introduction The degree to which each human brain hemisphere governs specific cognitive processes, such as language and handedness (the preference or dominance of one hand over the other), varies across individuals. Research has explored the nature of language laterality in left-handed (LH) individuals, indicating that left-hemisphere dominance for language is commonly observed across both left- and right-handed populations. Advanced imaging techniques, including functional transcranial Doppler sonography and fMRI, have revealed subtle differences in language lateralization between LH and right-handed (RH) individuals, particularly in semantic processing tasks.

Unreasonable or illegal utilization of pesticides may lead to pollution of agricultural products, especially with some persistent but effective pesticides. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop sensitive and rapid methods for pesticide detection to ensure the safety of agricultural products. Herein, a dual-mode ratiometric sensing system utilizing two gold nanoclusters (G/R-AuNCs) was designed and constructed for paraquat (PQ) detection, a typical, highly toxic, widely used pesticide.
