Symmetries in a network regulate its organization into functional clustered states. Given a generic ensemble of nodes and a desirable cluster (or group of clusters), we exploit the direct connection between the elements of the eigenvector centrality and the graph symmetries to generate a network equipped with the desired cluster(s), with such a synthetical structure being furthermore perfectly reflected in the modular organization of the network's functioning. Our results solve a relevant problem of designing a desired set of clusters and are of generic application in all cases where a desired parallel functioning needs to be blueprinted.

To meet the increasing demand for wearable sensor in special environment such as low temperature or underwater, a multifunctional ionic conducting hydrogel (Gel/PSAA-Al hydrogel) with anti-freezing and low swelling for human motion detection and underwater communication was prepared using gelatin (Gel), [2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl] dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide (SBMA), acrylamide (AAm), acrylic acid (AAc), and AlCl. Due to reversible hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions and metal coordination crosslinking between the polymer networks, the resulting Gel/PSAA-Al hydrogels present low swelling property in water and exhibit large tensile properties (~1050 %), high tensile strength (~250 kPa) and excellent fatigue resistance. In addition, the hydration capacity of SBMA and AlCl endows the Gel/PSAA-Al hydrogel fantastic anti-freezing (-31.

To simplify the composition and improve the efficacy of metal-phenolic network (MPN)-based nanomedicine, herein, we designed an MPN platform to deliver programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) antibody (anti-PD-L1) for combined tumor chemo/chemodynamic/immune therapy. Here, generation 5 poly(amidoamine) dendrimers conjugated with gossypol (Gos) through boronic ester bonds were used as a synthetic polyphenol to coordinate Mn, and then complexed with anti-PD-L1 to obtain the nanocomplexes (for short, DPGMA). The prepared DPGMA exhibited good water dispersibility with a hydrodynamic size of 166.

Multidirectional strain sensors are of technological importance for wearable devices and soft robots. Here, we report that flexible materials capable of multidirectional anisotropic strain sensing can be constructed leveraging diffusion-induced infiltration of monomers and in situ polymerization of metal ion-containing double network hydrogels in and on the surface of micro-corrugated chiral nematic cellulose nanocrystal/glucose films. Integrating the micro-corrugated cellulose nanocrystal/glucose chiral nematic films with ionic conductive hydrogels of PAA-co-AAm/sodium alginate/Al endows the materials with multidirectional mechanoelectrical resistivity and mechanochromism anisotropy.

Numerous types of contemporary antibiotic treatment regimens have become ineffective with the increasing incidence of drug tolerance. As a result, it is pertinent to seek novel and innovative solutions such as antibacterial nanomaterials (NMs) for the prohibition and treatment of hazardous microbial infections. Unlike traditional antibiotics (e.

Biofilm formation on medical devices has become a worldwide issue arising from its resistance to bactericidal agents and presenting challenges to eradicating biofouling adhesion, especially in biological fluids. Metal-phenolic networks have been demonstrated as a versatile and efficient strategy to prevent biofilm formation by endowing medical devices with prolonged antifouling and antibacterial activities in a one-step surface modification. In this study, we report a simple and environmentally friendly method using coordination chemistry between copper ions (Cu) and dopamine-containing copolymer to fabricate metal-phenolic network-based coatings.
