We propose a distinguishable-particle glassy model suitable for the molecular dynamics simulation of structural glasses. This model can sensitively tune the kinetic fragility of supercooled liquids in a wide range by simply changing the distribution of particle interactions. In the model liquid, we observe the occurrence of thermodynamic liquid-liquid phase transitions above glass transition. The phase transition is facilitated by lowering fragility. Prior to the liquid-liquid phase transition, our simulations verify the existence of a constant-volume heat capacity maximum varying with fragility. We reveal the characteristics of the equilibrium potential energy landscape in liquids with different fragility. Within the Gaussian excitation model, the liquid-liquid transition as well as the response to fragility is reasonably interpreted in configuration space.

Background: Eukaryotic RNA polymerase I consists of 12 or 11 core subunits and three dissociable subunits, Rrn3, A34, and A49. The A34 and A49 subunits exist as a heterodimer. In silico analysis of the A34 family of transcription factors demonstrates a commonly shared domain structure despite a lack of sequence conservation, as well as N-terminal and C-terminal disordered regions.

Orb-weaver spiders utilize morphologically differentiated abdominal glands to produce up to seven types of silks throughout their life cycles. Tubuliform silk is unique as it serves to protect developing embryos and hatchlings. However, our current understanding of the relationship between structure and function of tubuliform silk protein remains limited.

The onset and development of Alzheimer's disease is linked to the accumulation of pathological aggregates formed from the normally monomeric amyloid-β peptide within the central nervous system. These Aβ aggregates are increasingly successfully targeted with clinical therapies at later stages of the disease, but the fundamental molecular steps in early stage disease that trigger the initial nucleation event leading to the conversion of monomeric Aβ peptide into pathological aggregates remain unknown. Here, we show that the Aβ peptide can form biomolecular condensates on lipid bilayers both in molecular assays and in living cells.

This work aims to recover rare earths from wind turbines NdFeB magnets through pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical techniques. First, a NdFeB hydride powder is obtained by decrepitation with hydrogen. Subsequently, this powder was subjected to a chlorination roasting process and successive leaching with water to bring the metals into solution.

This study focuses on developing innovative and eco-friendly purification methods for the isolation of bioactive compounds derived from , a brown abundant macroalga in Djibouti. Three distinct fractions, obtained via liquid-liquid extraction (LLE_FAE), solid-phase extraction (SPE_WE50), and flash chromatography (FC_EtOH20), were selected based on their high phenolic content and antioxidant activities. All fractions were also evaluated for their anti-ageing potential by assessing their ability to inhibit two vital skin-ageing enzymes, tyrosinase and elastase.
