A new series of 13 ritonavir-like inhibitors of human drug-metabolizing CYP3A4 was rationally designed to study the R side-group and R end-group interplay when the R side-group is represented by phenyl. Spectral, functional, and structural characterization showed no improvement in the binding affinity and inhibitory potency of R/R-phenyl inhibitors upon elongation and/or fluorination of R-Boc (tert-butyloxycarbonyl) or its replacement with benzenesulfonyl. When R is pyridine, the impact of R-phenyl-to-indole/naphthalene substitution was multidirectional and highly dependent on side-group stereo configuration.

Type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) mainly reside in tissues with few lymphoid cells. How their tissue residency is regulated remains poorly understood. This study explores the inhibitory role of SLAM-family receptors (SFRs) on adaptive immune cells in ILC2 maintenance.

BACKGROUND Vulvar melanoma during pregnancy is exceptionally rare. Hormonal and immunological changes in pregnancy have raised concerns about the potential for accelerated melanoma progression and poorer maternal outcomes. This case report describes an unusual presentation of vulvar melanoma in a pregnant patient, which rapidly progressed despite previous treatments, but resulted in a favorable fetal outcome.

Unlabelled: The tonsils have been identified as a site of replication for Epstein-Barr virus, adenovirus, human papillomavirus, and other respiratory viruses. Human tonsil epithelial cells (HTECs) are a heterogeneous group of actively differentiating cells. Here, we investigated the cellular features and susceptibility of differentiated HTECs to specific influenza viruses, including expression of avian-type and mammalian-type sialic acid (SA) receptors, viral replication dynamics, and the associated cytokine secretion profiles.

One method of achieving spatially specific, multi-component nanoheterostructures is to combine multiple forms of post-synthetic modification. Applying cation or anion exchange to CuS nanorods creates complex nanoheterostructures. Combining such anion and cation exchanges generates a system which uncovers the interplay between these two processes and understands the cooperativity between postsynthetic modifications more broadly.
