Reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization has been used in various applications such as preparing nanoparticles, stimulus-responsive polymers, and hydrogels. In this study, the combination of this polymerization method and Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition click chemistry was used to prepare the multifunctional glyco-diblock copolymer , which is composed of mannosides for cell targeting, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) for biocompatibility, and aryl-aldehyde moieties for enzyme immobilization. The alkyne group in the polymer structure enables the alternation for other azide-conjugated monomers. The stepwise synthesis of the polymers was fully characterized. was self-assembled into polymeric nanoparticles () for glucose oxidase immobilization through Schiff base formation and for encapsulating the prodrug of arylboronate-linked doxorubicin (BA-DOX) under optimal conditions. Glucose oxidase in catalyzes glucose oxidation to produce gluconic acid and HO, which cause oxidative stress. Glucose oxidase also consumes glucose, causing starvation in cancer cells. The produced HO can selectively activate the anticancer prodrug BA-DOX for chemotherapy. data indicate that GOx and the prodrug BA-DOX present inside exhibit higher stability than free glucose oxidase with a favorable active DOX release profile. MDA-MB-231 cells, which express mannose receptors, were used to establish a model in this study. The bioactivity of the nanoplatform in the two- and three-dimensional models of MDA-MB-231 cancer cells was investigated to ascertain its antitumor efficacy.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Department of Chemistry and Food Toxicology, Institute of Food Technology and Nutrition, University of Rzeszow, Ćwiklińskiej 1a St, Rzeszow, 35-601, Poland.

The aim of the present study was to compare the antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral activities of Podkarpackie coniferous honeydew honey and Manuka honey. The quality of tested honey samples (honeydew-12 and Manuka-4) regarding honey standard was evaluated as well as additional indicators (methylglyoxal, total phenolics and HPTLC phenolic profile, antioxidant potential, glucose oxidase activity, and hydrogen peroxide) were compared. Antibacterial potential was analyzed against Gram-positive (S.

Chronic diabetic wound poses a pressing global healthcare challenge, necessitating an approach to address issues such as pathogenic bacteria elimination, blood sugar regulation, and angiogenesis stimulation. Herein, we engineered a BiWO@CuO-GOx bio-heterojunction (BWCG bio-HJ) with exceptional cascade catalytic performance and impressive sonosensitivity to remodel the wound microenvironment and expedite the diabetic wound healing. Specifically, the Z-scheme junctions of BiWO@CuO significantly augmented carrier separation dynamics, leading to the highly efficient generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon US irradiations.

Cells of the methylotrophic yeast Ogataea parapolymorpha have two genes encoding low-affinity phosphate transporters: PHO87, encoding the plasma membrane transporter, and PHO91, encoding a protein, which is homologous to the Saccharomyces cerevisiae vacuolar membrane transporter. Earlier, we reported that inactivation of PHO91 in O. parapolymorpha interferes with methanol utilization due to the lack of activity of methanol oxidase encoded by the MOX gene.

Department of Gyedang College of General Education, Sangmyung University, 31 Sangmyungdae-Gil, Dongnam-Gu, Cheonan 31066, Republic of Korea.

The evolution of high-performance electrode materials has significantly impacted the development of real-time monitoring biosensors, emphasizing the need for compatibility with biomaterials and robust electrochemical properties. This work focuses on creating electrode materials utilizing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), specifically examining their dispersion behavior and electrochemical characteristics. By using ultrasonic waves, we analyzed the dispersion of CNTs in various solvents, including N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF), deionized water (DW), ethanol, and acetone.
