Leptospirosis is a zoonotic infectious disease that significantly impacts animal and public health. Comparative genomics can aid in understanding poorly understood aspects of leptospirosis pathogenesis, including infection mechanisms, antimicrobial resistance, and host interactions across different epidemiological scenarios. This study aimed to compare the genomes of serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae strains isolated from three host species in a single epidemiological scenario.

Background And Aim: Zoonotic diseases caused by various blood parasites are important public health concerns that impact animals and humans worldwide. The traditional method of microscopic examination for parasite diagnosis is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and prone to variability among observers, necessitating highly skilled and experienced personnel. Therefore, an innovative approach is required to enhance the conventional method.

Brucellosis is listed by the World Health Organization as one of the seven most neglected global zoonotic diseases. A live-attenuated vaccine is still the main strategy used to prevent the spread of brucellosis. In this study, we constructed a two-gene (purE and purK)-deletion vaccine in Brucella melitensis vaccine strain M5 with homologous recombination.

Canine distemper virus (CDV) causes a highly contagious and lethal disease in a vast range of carnivorous and non-carnivorous species. The study aimed to genetically investigate the hemagglutinin (H) gene and Fsp-coding region of CDV isolates from vaccinated dogs. Phylogenetic analysis of the H gene and Fsp-coding region showed that our viruses belonged to the Arctic-like lineage which was distinct from two commonly used vaccine strains (America-1 lineage strains) in Iran.
