Xiaoyao Wan (XYW) is a prescription medicine of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with the effects of "soothing the liver and relieving depression," and "strengthening spleen and nourishing blood". XYW has been widely concerned in the treatment of depression and has become one of the commonly used classic formulas in clinical practice. However, the pharmacodynamic substance basis and the quality control studies of XYW are hitherto quite limited. Here, we aim to fully utilize an advanced ultra - performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole - Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS), headspace-solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) and headspace-gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) technique to deep characterization of the pharmacological substance basis and quantitatively evaluate the quality of XYW. Firstly, 299 compounds were identified or tentatively characterized, including 198 non-volatile organic compounds (n-VOCs) and 101 volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Secondly, principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) was used to analyze quality differences in XYW at different manufacturers. Thirdly, a parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) method was established and validated to quantify the fourteen major effective substances in different manufacturers of XYW, which were chosen as the benchmarked substances to evaluate the quality of XYW. In conclusion, this study shows that the strategy provides a useful method for quality control of TCM and offers a practical workflow for exploring the quality consistency of TCM.

Background: Depression is a clinically common co-morbidity in breast cancer cases that brings negative outcomes on quality of life and potentially survival. Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan (JXW) is widely used in treating breast cancer and depressive disorder, but its potential pharmacological mechanisms remain elusive.
Purpose: We aimed to explore the dual therapeutic effects and mechanisms of JXW acting on breast cancer complicated with depression (BCCD) by network pharmacology and in vivo experimental verification.

Ni-rich cathodes with a radial ordered microstructure have been proved to enhance materials' structural stability. However, the construction process of radial structures has not yet been clearly elaborated. Herein, the formation process of radial structures induced by different doped elements has been systematically investigated.

Background: In view of the current challenges in the treatment of depression, in order to improve the efficacy and avoid adverse reactions, people pay attention to the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. Xiaoyao san is a classic prescription commonly used in the treatment of depression, with the role of harmonizing liver and spleen, and shows great potential in the treatment of depression.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and specific mechanism of Xiaoyao san in the treatment of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depression through systematic evaluation and meta-analysis, so as to provide strong preclinical evidence for the clinical treatment of Xiaoyao san and provide a new strategy for the development of antidepressants.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Shugan Jieyu Capsules,Jieyu Pills and Xiaoyao Pills in the treatment of liver-stagnation and spleen-deficiency depression by the network Meta-analysis( NMA),so as to provide evidence-based clinical practice. Chinese databases, including CNKI,VIP,Wan Fang Data,CBM as well as English databases including the Cochrane Library,PubMed,EMbase and Web of Science were retrieved from inception to October 30,2018,to collect randomized controlled trials( RCTs) about clinical study of the three kinds of Chinese patent medicines. The quality and bias risk of the included studies were assessed by 5.
