Objectives: Reconstruction of total pharyngolaryngectomy defects may restore pharyngeal function and enable tracheoesophageal speech after resection of locoregionally advanced malignancy. Little remains known about variations in the practices and preferences of surgeons across differing global regions.
Methods: A survey was sent to reconstructive head and neck surgeons across three continents with responses analyzed to evaluate trends.

Ectopic parathyroid glands result from abnormal migration during development. If not detected promptly, they can lead to persistent or recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). Inferior parathyroid glands are typically located in the anterior mediastinum, while superior parathyroid glands are often near the tracheoesophageal groove, both of which contribute to pHPT.

Introduction: Stapling-assisted closure of pharyngeal mucosa during total laryngectomy was described in 1973.Few authors have demonstrated that this technique provides a faster and more reliable pharyngeal closure with ashorter operative period. However, the simultaneous placement of tracheoesophageal prostheses is quitechallenging and affects the patient's speech rehabilitation.
