It is a major challenge to perform one-pot hydroxylation of benzene to phenol under mild conditions, which replaces the environmentally harmful cumene method. Thus, finding highly efficient heterogeneous catalysts that can be recycled is extremely significant. Herein, a (POM)-based hybrid compound {[Fe(pyim)(CHO)][Fe(pyim)(HO)][PMoV2MoVI9VIV3O]}·HO (pyim = 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazole) (Fe2-PMo11V3) was successfully prepared by hydrothermal synthesis using typical Keggin POMs, iron ions and pyim ligands. Single-crystal diffraction shows that the Fe-pyim unit in Fe2-PMo11V3 forms a stable double-supported skeleton by Fe-O bonding to the polyacid anion. Remarkably, due to the introduction of vanadium, Fe2-PMo11V3 forms a divanadium-capped conformation. Benzene oxidation experiments indicated that Fe2-PMo11V3 can catalyze the benzene hydroxylation reaction to phenol in a mixed solution of acetonitrile and acetic acid containing HO at 60 °C, affording a phenol yield of about 16.2% and a selectivity of about 94%.

In this work, we successfully prepared four POM-based organic-inorganic hybrids, namely, [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (1), [(CHN)(CHN)][PMoO] (2), [(CHN)][PMoO]·4HO (3), and [(CHN)][PMoO] (4) (where CHN = pyridine, CHN = pyrazine, CHN = 2,7-diamino-1,3,4,6,8,9-hexaazaspiro[4.4] nonane, and CHN = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole), using a hydrothermal method. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited a lamellar three-dimensional structure.

In this work, a dual-ligand functionalized lanthanide-encapsulated selenotungstate [HN(CH)]NaH[Ho(HO)(HPACA)WO(Ac)][SeWO] · 60HO (, HPACA = 2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid, HAc = acetic acid) was successfully acquired by simultaneously incorporating rigid HPACA and flexible Ac ligands to one reaction system. Interestingly, the polyanion [Ho(HO)(HPACA)WO(Ac)][SeWO] of is composed of six trivacant Keggin-type [B-α-SeWO] units interconnected through an organic-inorganic hybrid dual-ligand bimetallic [Ho(HO)(HPACA)WO(Ac)] cluster. Moreover, the @PNMPy film (PNMPy = poly(-methylpyrrole)) was successfully prepared through an electrochemical polymerization strategy.

Bacterial infection of wound surfaces has posed a significant threat to human health and represents a formidable challenge in the clinical treatment. In this study, a novel antimicrobial hydrogel utilizing POM is synthesized as the primary component, with gelatin and sodium alginate as the structural framework. The resultant hydrogel demonstrates exceptional mechanical properties and viscoelasticity attributed to the hydrogen-bonded cross-linking between POM and gelatin, as well as the ionic cross-linking between sodium alginate and Ca.

In situ ligand transformation strategies represent an efficient pathway for constructing function-oriented polyoxometalate (POM)-based crystalline materials. Herein, three POM-based hybrid networks were synthesized through in situ transformation of the phosphine ligand, formulated as [Ag(dppeo)][HPMoO]·5HO (), [Ag(dedpo)][SiWO]·6HO (), and [Ag(dppeo)][PWO]·3HO () (dedpo = (2-(diphenylphosphaneyl)ethyl)diphenylphosphine oxide; dppeo = ethane-1,2-diylbis(diphenylphosphine oxide)). During the synthesis of these compounds, the 1,2-diphenylphosphine ethane molecule underwent in situ oxidation, transforming into dppeo and dedpo ligands, respectively.

The overuse of antibiotics can lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which can be even more difficult to treat and pose an even greater threat to public health. In order to address the issue of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, researchers currently are exploring alternative methods of sterilization that are both effective and sustainable. Polyoxometalates (POMs), as emerging transition metal oxide compounds, exhibit significant potential in various applications due to their remarkable tunable physical and chemical performance, especially in antibacterial fields.
