AI Article Synopsis

  • Four new steroids, cynansteroid G-I and cynansteroid K, along with a new natural product, 5,6-deacidizingcaudatin, and the known compound glycocaudatin, were isolated from the roots of a specific plant.
  • The structures of these new compounds were determined using various advanced spectroscopic techniques, including NMR and mass spectrometry.
  • The cytotoxic activities of these compounds were tested against two human tumor cell lines, COLO-205 and BGC-823, but they showed weaker effects compared to the positive control.

Article Abstract

Four new steroids cynansteroid G-I () and cynansteroid K (), a new natural product 5,6-deacidizingcaudatin (), and a known compound glycocaudatin (), were isolated from the roots of . The structures of new compounds were identified by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses, including NMR, HRESI-MS, ECD, UV, and IR spectral data. The cytotoxic activities of all the isolates against two human tumour cell lines (COLO-205 and BGC-823) were screened, unfortunately, which were weaker than positive control.

Drought stress has a significant impact on agricultural productivity, affecting key crops such as soybeans, the second most widely cultivated crop in the United States. Endophytic and rhizospheric microbial diversity analyses were conducted with soybean plants cultivated during the 2023 growing season amid extreme weather conditions of prolonged high temperatures and drought in Louisiana. Specifically, surviving and non-surviving soybean plants were collected from two plots of a Louisiana soybean field severely damaged by extreme heat and drought conditions in 2023.

Ethanolic extracts from the roots and aerial parts of the hitherto chemically uninvestigated lettuce species Willd. (Cichorieae, Asteraceae) were chromatographically separated to obtain eight sesquiterpenoids, two apocarotenoids (loliolide and (6,9) roseoside), and three phenolic glucosides (apigenin 7--glucoside, eugenyl-4---glucopyranoside, and 5-methoxyeugenyl-4---glucopyranoside). Four of the isolated sesquiterpene lactones (8--angeloyloxyleucodin, matricarin, 15-deoxylactucin, and deacetylmatricarin 8--glucopyranoside) have not previously been found either in spp.
