The broken time reversal symmetry states may result in the opening of a band gap in TlBiSe leading to several interesting phenomena which are potentially relevant for spintronic applications. In this work, the quantum interference and magnetic proximity effects have been studied in NiFe/p-TlBiSe/p-Si (Magnetic/TI) heterostructure using physical vapor deposition technique. Raman analysis shows the symmetry breaking with the appearance of A mode. The electrical characteristics are investigated under dark and illumination conditions in the absence as well as in the presence of a magnetic field. The outcomes of the examined device reveal excellent photo response in both forward and reverse bias regions. Interestingly, under a magnetic field, the device shows a reduction in electrical conductivity at ambient conditions due to the crossover of weak localization and separation of weak antilocalization, which are experimentally confirmed by magnetoresistance measurement. Further, the photo response has also been assessed by the transient absorption spectroscopy through analysis of charge transfer and carrier relaxation mechanisms. Our results can be beneficial for quantum computation and further study of topological insulator/ferromagnet heterostructure and topological material based spintronic devices due to high spin orbit coupling along with dissipationless conduction channels at the surface states.

One-dimensional (1D) vertical nitrides are highly attractive for light-emitting diode (LED) applications because they are useful for overcoming the drawbacks of conventional GaN planar structures. However, the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of GaN multi-quantum-well (MQW) nanowire (NW) LEDs, typical 1D GaN structures, is still too low to replace standard planar LEDs. Here, we report a phenomenon of light amplification from core-shell InGaN/GaN NW LEDs by incorporating graphene quantum dots (GQDs).

Modification of the Se/MoO Rear Interface for Efficient Wide-Band-Gap Trigonal Selenium Solar Cells.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Institute of New Energy Technology, College of Physics & Optoelectronic Engineering, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, China.

Trigonal selenium (t-Se) is a promising wide-band-gap photovoltaic material with a high absorption coefficient, abundant resources, simple composition, nontoxicity, and a low melting point, making it suitable for absorbers in advanced indoor and tandem photovoltaic applications. However, severe electrical losses at the rear interface of the t-Se absorber, caused by work function and lattice mismatches, limit the voltage output and overall performance. In this study, a strategy to enhance carrier transport and collection by modifying interfacial chemical interactions is proposed.

Conjugated polymer donors have always been one of the important components of organic solar cells (OSCs), particularly those featuring simple synthetic routes, proper energy levels, and appropriate aggregation behavior. In this work, we employed a nonfused electron-deficient building block, dicyanobithiophene (2CT), for constructing high-performance donors. Combining this with side-chain engineering, two novel halogen-free polymer donors, PB2CT-BO and PB2CT-HD, were reported.

Creating sustainable and stable semiconductors for energy conversion via catalysis, such as water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction, is a major challenge in modern materials chemistry, propelled by the limited and dwindling reserves of platinum group metals. Two-dimensional hexagonal borocarbonitride (h-BCN) is a metal-free alternative and ternary semiconductor, possessing tunable electronic properties between that of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and graphene, and has attracted significant attention as a nonmetallic catalyst for a host of technologically relevant chemical reactions. Herein, we use density functional theory to investigate the stability and optoelectronic properties of phase-separated monolayer h-BCN structures, varying carbon concentration and domain size.
