The aim of the study was to assess neuromuscular changes during an intermittent fatiguing task designed to replicate fundamental actions and ergonomics of road race motorcycling. Twenty-eight participants repeated a sequence of submaximal brake-pulling and gas throttle actions, interspaced by one maximal brake-pulling, until failure. During the submaximal brake-pulling actions performed at 30% MVC, force fluctuations, surface EMG, maximal M-wave (M) and H-reflex were measured in the flexor digitorum superficialis. At the end of the task, the MVC force and associated EMG activity decreased (<0.001) by 46% and 26%, respectively. During the task, force fluctuation and EMG activity increased gradually (106% and 61%, respectively) with respect to the pre-fatigue state (≤0.029). The M first phase did not change (≥0.524), whereas the H-reflex amplitude, normalized to M, increased (149%; ≤0.039). Noteworthy, the relative increase in H-reflex amplitude was correlated with the increase in EMG activity during the task (=0.63; <0.001). During the 10-min recovery, MVC force and EMG activity remained depressed (≤0.05) whereas H-reflex amplitude and force fluctuation returned to pre-fatigue values. In conclusion, contrarily to other studies, our results bring forward that when mimicking motorcycling brake-pulling and gas throttle actions, supraspinal neural mechanisms primarily limit the duration of the performance.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as a highly efficacious therapeutic modality for malignant tumors owing to its non-invasive property and minimal adverse effects. However, the pervasive hypoxic microenvironment within tumors significantly compromises the efficacy of oxygen-dependent PDT, posing a formidable challenge to the advancement of high-efficiency PDT. Here, we developed a nanostructured photosensitizer (PS) assembled by cationic and anionic zinc phthalocyanines to load oxygen-throttling drug atovaquone (ATO), which was subsequently coated with polydopamine to obtain the final product ATO/ZnPc-CA@DA.

In the working process of the gas bearings, the unbalanced force of the rotor will increase nonlinearly with the increase in the rotating speed, resulting in an increase in the rotor's vibration amplitude. On the other hand, with the increase in the rotating speed, the hydrodynamic effect will increase, and the nonlinear increase in the gas film force and stiffness will inhibit the increase in the vibration amplitude. In order to deeply study the influence of the unbalanced force and nonlinear gas film force on the vibration amplitude of the ultra-precision aerostatic motorized spindle, taking the double slit throttling gas bearing as an example, according to the equilibrium equation of the rotor under the combined action of gravity, the gas film force, and the unbalanced force, a calculation program based on the finite difference method for solving the rotor's equilibrium position is completed.

DRL-OS: A Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Offloading Scheduler in Mobile Edge Computing.

Hardware bottlenecks can throttle smart device (SD) performance when executing computation-intensive and delay-sensitive applications. Hence, task offloading can be used to transfer computation-intensive tasks to an external server or processor in Mobile Edge Computing. However, in this approach, the offloaded task can be useless when a process is significantly delayed or a deadline has expired.

EttA, energy-dependent translational throttle A, is a ribosomal factor that gates ribosome entry into the translation elongation cycle. A detailed understanding of its mechanism of action is limited due to the lack of high-resolution structures along its ATPase cycle. Here we present the cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of EttA from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), referred to as MtbEttA, in complex with the Mtb 70S ribosome initiation complex (70SIC) at the pre-hydrolysis (ADPNP) and transition (ADP-VO) states, and the crystal structure of MtbEttA alone in the post-hydrolysis (ADP) state.
