Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) trials require enrollment with an informant.
Methods: We assessed relationships between informant replacement and Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study Activities of Daily Living (ADCS-ADL) scores across four AD trials. Using generalized estimating equations, we examined associations between replacement and change in ADCS-ADL between successive visits. We used analysis of covariance to estimate the association between replacement and 18-month change from baseline, and an test to compare the variance of this change.
Results: Among 1336 participants, 63 (≈5%) experienced replacement. Between-visit mean change in ADCS-ADL was 2.44 points lower comparing replacement to stable informants (95% confidence interval [CI]: -3.91, -0.98). The difference in between-visit mean absolute change was 2.38 points (95% CI: 1.24, 3.52). Replacement was not significantly associated with an 18-month change from baseline. The ratio of variances (replacement/stable) was 1.80 (95% CI: 1.19, 2.99).
Discussion: Informant replacement is associated with bias and increased variability between visits and increased variance for overall ADCS-ADL.

Background/aim: Effective management of heart failure involves evidence-based use of multiple medications and their combinations. Furthermore, dosage escalation of the recommended medications is advised. In cases of advanced heart failure, long-term mechanical assistance devices or heart transplantation surgery may be necessary.

Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LGESS) is a rare disease, accounting for less than 1% of all uterine malignancies. Standard treatment is total hysterectomy and bilateral tubal oophorectomy, although fertility preservation may be desirable because of the young age of onset. We document a case of fertility preservation in a 27-year-old nulligravida diagnosed with LGESS, which not only enabled the successful birth of two live infants but also underscores the efficacy of a multidisciplinary approach to patient treatment through the Hyogo Oncofertility Network (HOF-net).

Introduction: Salvage arthroplasty for failed proximal femoral fracture fixation is a complex procedure. This involves the removal of the primary failed or broken implant followed by a hip joint replacement procedure. The complications and technical difficulties associated with these surgeries are often difficult to anticipate.

Background and objective Orthopedic surgery, particularly joint replacement, involves the use of many implants, resulting in a large amount of product packaging waste. To date, no study has surveyed artificial joint manufacturers on the recycling and reduction of packaging materials and their Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) initiatives. This questionnaire survey aimed to identify the current status of orthopedic artificial joint manufacturers in terms of implementing SDG initiatives.

Introduction: With advances in AI and machine learning, platforms like OpenAI's ChatGPT are emerging as educational resources. While these platforms offer easy access and user-friendliness due to their personalized conversational responses, concerns about the accuracy and reliability of their information persist. As one of the most common surgical procedures performed by plastic surgeons worldwide, breast reduction surgery (BRS) offers relief for the physical and emotional burdens of large breasts.
