Unveiling the Dissolution Regularities of the Lignin-Carbohydrate Complex in Bamboo Cell Walls during Alkali Pretreatment.

J Agric Food Chem

May 2024

Guangxi Key Laboratory of Clean Pulp & Papermaking and Pollution Control, School of Light Industrial and Food Engineering, Guangxi University, Nanning 530004, P. R. China.

Bamboo is a promising biomass resource. However, the complex multilayered structure and chemical composition of bamboo cell walls create a unique anti-depolymerization barrier, which increases the difficulty of separation and utilization of bamboo. In this study, the relationship between the connections of lignin-carbohydrate complexes (LCCs) within bamboo cell walls and their multilayered structural compositions was investigated.

Characterization of Electrospun Polysuccinimide-Dopamine Conjugates and Effect on Cell Viability and Uptake.

Laboratory of Nanochemistry, Department of Biophysics and Radiation Biology, Semmelweis University, Nagyvárad tér 4, Budapest, H-1089, Hungary.

Biocompatible nanofibrous systems made by electrospinning have been studied widely for pharmaceutical applications since they have a high specific surface and the capability to make the entrapped drug molecule amorphous, which increases bioavailability. By covalently conjugating drugs onto polymers, the degradation of the drug as well as the fast clearance from the circulation can be avoided. Although covalent polymer-drug conjugates have a lot of advantages, there is a lack of research focusing on their nano-formulation by electrospinning.

[Preparation and performance evaluation of controlled-release chitosan-based microneedles].

Sheng Wu Gong Cheng Xue Bao

September 2022

Institute of Plastic Machinery and Plastic Engineering (IPME), Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing 100029, China.

In clinical application, a microneedle system that continuously delivers drugs is of great value for the delivery of some vaccines and hormone drugs. In this study, a controlled-release chitosan-based microneedle array (PVA/CS-MN) was designed, combining microneedle patches with drugs for controlled-release of drugs. Here we report the optimization of the preparation process of PVA/CS-MN.

In this study, a novel rebamipide-loaded spray-dried microsphere (RSM) with enhanced drug solubility and oral bioavailability has been developed utilizing meglumine, an alkalizing agent. The influence of carriers on the drug solubility alone, and the solubility and dissolution of the drug in the RSM was investigated. Among the alkalizing agents and hydrophilic polymers tested, meglumine and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) showed the highest drug solubility and dissolution rate, respectively.
