Although considered an "eco-friendly" biodegradable plastic, polylactic acid (PLA) microplastic (PLA-MP) poses a growing concern for human health, yet its effects on male reproductive function remain underexplored. This study investigated the reproductive toxicity of PLA in male mice and its potential mechanisms. To this end, our in vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that after degradation in the digestive system, a significant number of PLA-MP-derived nanoparticles could penetrate the blood-testis barrier (BTB) and localize within the spermatogenic microenvironment.

Background: An effective primary treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in children and adolescents as well as adults is exposure and response prevention (ERP), a form of intervention in the context of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Despite strong evidence supporting the efficacy and effectiveness of ERP from studies in research and real-world settings, its clinical use remains limited. This underuse is often attributed to access barriers such as the scarcity of properly trained therapists, geographical constraints, and costs.

Due to the high incidence of proximal femoral fractures, classifications of these fractures are often used in daily practice. Most classifications are eponymous terms since they bear the name of the person(s) who developed them. In this study we provide an insight in the origin of the classifications and the background of their name givers.

Adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing is a prevalent RNA modification essential for cell survival. The process is catalyzed by the Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA (ADAR) enzyme family that converts adenosines in double-stranded RNAs (dsRNAs) into inosines, which are read as guanosines during translation. Deep sequencing has helped to reveal that A-to-I editing occurs across various types of RNAs to affect their functions.

Randomized controlled trials have shown that using client feedback obtained from routine outcome monitoring can lead to better clinical outcomes in psychotherapy. However, existing randomized controlled trial studies did not address the between-person and within-person effects of routine outcome monitoring simultaneously. To fill this critical gap, this study conducted a multilevel analysis to explore the effect of therapist utilization of client symptom outcome data in a naturalistic practice setting.
