High energy density lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) adopting high-nickel layered oxide cathodes and silicon-based composite anodes always suffer from unsatisfied cycle life and poor safety performance, especially at elevated temperatures. Electrode /electrolyte interphase regulation by functional additives is one of the most economic and efficacious strategies to overcome this shortcoming. Herein, cyano-groups (-CN) are introduced into lithium fluorinated phosphate to synthesize a novel multifunctional additive of lithium tetrafluoro (1,2-dihydroxyethane-1,1,2,2-tetracarbonitrile) phosphate (LiTFTCP), which endows high nickel LiNi Co Mn O /SiO -graphite composite full cell with an ultrahigh cycle life and superior safety characteristics, by adding only 0.5 wt % LiTFTCP into a LiPF -carbonate baseline electrolyte. It is revealed that LiTFTCP additive effectively suppresses the HF generation and facilitates the formation of a robust and heat-resistant cyano-enriched CEI layer as well as a stable LiF-enriched SEI layer. The favorable SEI/CEI layers greatly lessen the electrode degradation, electrolyte consumption, thermal-induced gassing and total heat-releasing. This work illuminates the importance of additive molecular engineering and interphase regulation in simultaneously promoting the cycling and thermal safety of LIBs with high-nickel NCM cathode and silicon-based composite anode.

Apoptosis is a key feature of preimplantation development, but whether it occurs in a cell-autonomous or coordinated manner was unknown. Here, we report that plasma membrane abscission, the final step of cell division, is profoundly delayed in early mouse embryos such that a cytokinetic bridge is maintained for the vast majority of the following interphase. Early embryos thus consist of many pairs of sister cells connected by stable cytokinetic bridges that allow them to share diffusible molecules.

People with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) carry a considerable risk of developing dementia. Studies have shown that female sex hormones have long-lasting neuroprotective and anti-aging properties, and the increased risk of MCI and AD is associated with the lack of estrogen during menopause. Previous studies have shown that Tiao Geng Decoction (TGD) may have antioxidant and anti apoptotic properties, which may prevent neurodegenerative diseases.

A NaF-rich composite artificial interphase is generated relying on a simple chemical reaction by regulating methyl 2,2,2-trifluoromethyl ester reactivity, which can promote rapid ion transport and effectively inhibit dendrite growth in carbonate electrolytes. The assembled NaF@Na‖NaV(PO) full cell attains a long lifespan of 4000 cycles at 5C with 95% capacity retention, and a high specific capacity of 80.8 mAh g at 30C.

A polyvinylidene carbonate:BN layer was constructed between LiAlTi(PO) (LATP) and the lithium (Li) electrode, improving interfacial compatibility and thermal stability. The LiN-rich solid electrolyte interphase regulates Li deposition behaviors. The solid-state Li metal batteries (SSLMBs) show remarkable electrochemical performance, exhibiting endurance for 800 hours of cycling at 0.

Realizing fast charging in high-specific-energy lithium metal batteries (LMBs) remains a significant challenge. Here, a oleophilic garnet suspension electrolyte design is reported, using inorganic solid electrolyte modified by low-surface-energy 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl trichlorosilane (PFOTS), to address the dilemma of fast charging and high specific energy in LMBs. With the oleophilic suspension electrolytes, the ionic conductivity of carbonate electrolyte is increased by ≈20%.
