With increasing demand of the public toward antimicrobial textiles, there should be the proper fabrication of such types of clothes, and it is possible with biogenically synthesized metal nanoparticles (NPs). It is necessary to find cheap and eco-friendly resources for such synthesis. In this work, we used from Assam, India, to synthesize copper and silver (Ag) NPs. As far as we know, this is the first report on the synthesis of AgNPs and copper oxide NPs (CuONPs) from The synthesis was done from the aqueous leaf extract. The AgNPs and CuONPs formation was observed by the change in the color of the solution and was confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Characterization of NPs was done with various physicochemical characterization techniques. The synthesized spherical-shaped AgNPs were found to be effective against the representative bacteria, Gram +ve () and Gram -ve ( and ), but the flake-shaped CuONPs were not effective due to their bigger size (>200 nm). The results clearly show that the AgNPs used in this study were toxic against three pathogens. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of AgNPs for and were 32 μg/mL. The uptake analysis of AgNPs for both pathogens demonstrates the mechanism of toxic effects. The present study confirms that leaf extract is effective in AgNP synthesis, and it could be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly resource for the green synthesis of AgNPs.

Background: Real-time and rapid detection of ingredients in food has important significance for food safety. However, traditional detection methods not only require bulky and costly instruments but also are often based on single-mode analysis, limiting their accuracy and applications in point-of-care testing. Herein, an integrated and miniaturized dual-mode device based on colorimetric and photoacoustic (PA) principles is developed, using Au@Ag nanoparticles (Au@AgNPs) as signal probe and ascorbic acid (AA) and ascorbate oxidase (AAO) as analytes.

Background: Breast carcinoma stands out as the most widespread invasive cancer and the top contributor to cancer-related mortality in women. Nanoparticles have emerged as promising tools in cancer detection, diagnosis, and prevention. In this study, the antitumor and apoptotic capability of silver nanoparticles synthesized through Scrophularia striata extract (AgNPs-SSE) was investigated toward breast cancer cells.

This study presents an investigation of the chemical composition of Aloe vera leaf tissue with a focus on the spatial distribution of compounds. The composition was studied using two mass spectrometry imaging techniques: silver-109 nanoparticles assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AgNPs-LDI-MSI) and laser ablation-remote atmospheric pressure photoionization/chemical ionization mass spectrometry imaging (LARAPPI/CI-MSI) and the identification was aided by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and ultra-high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-UHRMS) analysis. The results showed an abundance of phenolic compounds with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a beneficial food additive and food packaging material.

This article presents new data on the integrated use of colloidal solutions of nanoparticles and low-intensity laser radiation on the biosynthetic activity of the medicinal mushroom . Traditional mycological methods, colloidal solutions of biogenic metals, and unique photobiological methods have also been used. It was found that colloidal solutions of nanoparticles of all metals used increased the growth characteristics of (55-60%), while irradiation of the fungal inoculum with laser light in a medium with nanoparticles reduced the growth activity of mycelia by 12.

The development of a sensitive and selective silver nanoparticle assay for the quantitation of vitamin C (SNaP-C), as ascorbic acid (AA) and total ascorbic acid (TAA = AA + dehydroascorbic acid, DHAA), is described. Three assay parameters were investigated and optimized: (1) synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to produce a reliable enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in the presence of specific added antioxidants; (2) ensuring long-term stability of AA and DHAA in aqueous solutions; and (3) SNaP-C assay conditions to allow for rapid analysis of samples (beverages) by monitoring the enhanced LSPR. The synthesis of AgNPs using soluble starch as a capping agent and d-arabinose as a reducing agent was optimized in a CEM Discover SP laboratory microwave.
