Background: Valgus osteotomy is a femoral head-preserving surgery to treat femoral neck non-union in young, active patients. The traditional approach, however, causes medialisation of the femoral shaft during valgus correction, which alters femoral anatomy and complicates conversion to total hip arthroplasty if head osteosynthesis fails. This study aims to outline a novel surgical technique, medial opening wedge valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy (VITO), and evaluate its clinical and radiographic outcomes, focusing on restoring hip biomechanics and improving union rates.

The evolution of spinal arthroplasty, a significant journey that began in the 1960s and 1970s, has seen remarkable progress. Initially designed to preserve motion at spinal segments and avoid complications associated with fusion surgeries, early designs faced setbacks due to rudimentary concepts and limited materials. However, the 1980s marked a turning point with the development of modern total disc replacement concepts, utilizing advanced materials such as titanium and polyethylene to improve implant longevity and integration.

Background: Accurately evaluating bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with unilateral hip osteoarthritis (OA) is crucial for diagnosing osteoporosis and selecting implants for hip arthroplasty. Our goal was to measure the BMD differences between sides, examine contributing factors, and identify the optimal side for BMD assessment in these patients.
Methods: We analyzed 108 women with unilateral hip OA.

The reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint presents a multifaceted clinical challenge in the realm of head and neck surgery, underscored by its relatively infrequent occurrence and the lack of comprehensive clinical guidelines. This review aims to elucidate the available approaches for TMJ reconstruction, with a particular emphasis on recent groundbreaking advancements. The current spectrum of TMJ reconstruction integrates diverse surgical techniques, such as costochondral grafting, coronoid process grafting, revascularized fibula transfer, transport distraction osteogenesis, and alloplastic TMJ replacement.
