Defects in the crystal structure of nanomaterials are important for their diverse applications. As, defects in 2D framework allow surface confinement effects, efficient molecular accessibility, high surface-area to volume-ratio and lead to higher catalytic activity, but it is challenging to expose defects of specific metal on the surface of 2D alloy and find the correlation between defective structure and electrocatalytic properties with atomic precision. Herein, the work paves the way for the controlled synthesis of ultrathin porous Ir-Cu nanosheets (NSs) with selectively iridium (Ir) rich defects to boost their performance for acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals that the oxidized states of Ir in defects of porous NSs significantly impact the electronic structure and decline the energy barrier. As a result, porous Ir-Cu/C NSs deliver improved OER activity with an overpotential of 237 mV for reaching 10 mA cm and exhibit significantly higher mass activity than benchmark Ir/C under acidic conditions. Therefore, the present work highlights the concept of constructing a selective noble metal defect-rich open structure for catalytic applications.

Introduction: We assessed the risk of adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes and birth defects among women living with HIV (WLHIV) on antiretroviral therapy (ART) and HIV-negative women.
Methods: We analyzed data on live births, stillbirths, and spontaneous abortions during 2015-2021 from a hospital-based birth defects surveillance system in Kampala, Uganda. ART regimens were recorded from hospital records and maternal self-reports.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental condition affecting a substantial number of children globally, characterized by diverse aetiologies, including genetic and environmental factors. Emerging research suggests that neurovascular dysregulation during development could significantly contribute to autism. This review synthesizes the potential role of vascular abnormalities in the pathogenesis of ASD and explores insights from studies on valproic acid (VPA) exposure during neural tube development.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) are widely used in fields such as aviation and aerospace. However, subtle defects can significantly impact the material's service life, making defect detection a critical priority. In this paper, delamination defects in CFRP are detected using line laser infrared thermography, and a defect characterization algorithm that combines differential thermography with a frequency-domain filter is proposed.

Gluing is a critical step in aircraft sealing assembly, with glue profile inspection serving as the final quality assurance measure to ensure consistency and accuracy of the sealant coating, allowing timely detection and correction of defects to maintain assembly integrity and safety. Currently, existing glue inspection systems are limited to basic inspection capabilities, lack result digitization, and exhibit low efficiency. This paper proposes a 3D inspection technology for sealant coating quality based on line-structured light, enabling automated and high-precision inspection of sealant thickness, sealant width, positional accuracy, and overlap joint sealant contour through geometric computation.
