Introduction: Women with early bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) have greater Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk than women with spontaneous menopause (SM), but the pathway toward this risk is understudied. Considering associative memory deficits may reflect early signs of AD, we studied how BSO affected brain activity underlying associative memory.
Methods: Early midlife women with BSO (with and without 17β-estradiol therapy [ET]) and age-matched controls (AMCs) with intact ovaries completed a face-name associative memory task during functional magnetic resonance imaging.

Objective: Early identification of risk factors associated with early neurological deterioration (END) in patients with acute minor stroke and large vessel occlusion (LVO) receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) could assist in formulating treatment decisions.
Methods: Consecutive patients with acute minor stroke and LVO were extracted from a single-center prospective database spanning January 2020 to December 2023. END was defined as an increase of ≥ 4 points in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score from baseline, or ≥ 2 points in any single NIHSS item, within 24 hours of the IVT.

Previous studies demonstrated that dexmedetomidine (Dex) posttreatment aggravated myocardial dysfunction and reduced survival in septic mice. Yet, whether Dex elicits similar effects in septic patients as defined by Sepsis-3 remains unknown. This study sought to assess the effects of Dex-based sedation on mortality and cardiac dysfunction in septic patients defined by Sepsis-3 and to further reveal the mechanisms in septic rats.

The early stages of human development are critical for growth, and exposure to arsenic, particularly through the placenta and dietary sources, poses significant health risks. Despite extensive research, significant gaps remain in our comprehension of regional disparities in arsenic exposure and its cumulative impacts during these developmental stages. We hypothesize that infants in certain regions are at greater risk of arsenic exposure and its associated health complications.

NF2-SWN, caused by mutations in the NF2 gene, has developed into intracranial and spinal schwannomas.
