Desiccant-coated heat exchangers provide a practical solution for the efficient removal of moisture from the air. Here, we present a protocol to synthesize an ultra-hygroscopic polymer to develop a LiCl loaded in curdlan hydrogel (LiCl@Cur)-coated heat exchanger for deep dehumidification. We describe steps for preparing the curdlan gel solution, hydrogel, LiCl solution, and LiCl@Cur. We then detail procedures for preparing curdlan-coated and LiCl@Cur-coated heat exchangers. The coated heat exchanger described in this protocol has a maximum dehumidification capacity of 12 g/kg. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Pan et al. (2023)..

This study investigates the use of multi-layered porous media (MLPM) to enhance thermal energy transfer within a counterflow double-pipe heat exchanger (DPHE). We conducted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations on DPHEs featuring five distinct MLPM configurations, analyzed under both fully filled and partially filled conditions, alongside a conventional DPHE. The impact of various parameters such as porous layer arrangements, thickness, and flow Reynolds numbers on pressure drop, logarithmic mean temperature difference (LMTD), and performance evaluation criterion (PEC) was assessed.

This study is the application of a recurrent neural networks with Bayesian regularization optimizer (RNNs-BRO) to analyze the effect of various physical parameters on fluid velocity, temperature, and mass concentration profiles in the Darcy-Forchheimer flow of propylene glycol mixed with carbon nanotubes model across a stretched cylinder. This model has significant applications in thermal systems such as in heat exchangers, chemical processing, and medical cooling devices. The data-set of the proposed model has been generated with variation of various parameters such as, curvature parameter, inertia coefficient, Hartmann number, porosity parameter, Eckert number, Prandtl number, radiation parameter, activation energy variable, Schmidt number and reaction rate parameter for different scenarios.

Thermoregulating ectotherms may resort to different external heat sources to modulate their body temperature through an array of behavioural and physiological adaptations which modulate heat exchange with the environment and its distribution across the animal's body. Even small-bodied animals are capable of fine control over such rates and the subsequent re-allocation of heat across the body. Such thermal exchanges with the environment usually happen through two non-mutually exclusive modes: heliothermy (radiant heat gain from the sun) or thigmothermy (heat gained or lost via conduction).

Among the numerous residential appliances, window or split air conditioners are the most prevalent. The hydrochlorofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants used in those systems are causing a serious threat to the environment. In this study, R290-hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) mixtures are proposed as replacements for high-GWP substances (R410A and R22) in window air conditioning (WAC) units.

A cation exchange (CE) reaction offers a remarkable opportunity to create versatile metal sulfide nanocrystals (NCs) with arbitrary complexity in composition, structure, and functionality. The concept of regioselectivity has been discovered and developed to build the target heterostructures through CE reactions, yet a general principle of regioselectivity remains unclear. In this work, we establish connections between experimental results and theoretical insights to elucidate the determinants of regioselectivity using designed aliovalent CE reactions on a two-dimensional template.
