Tandem running in ants is a sophisticated form of communication. Precise measurement of movement coordination by the tandem pair can shed light on social interactions. Here, we describe an integrative approach to obtain long movement trajectories of a specific tandem pair within a crowd of ants. We describe a maze-like arena, video recording and editing, and movement tracking. We integrate two pieces of image-based tracking software that have distinct individual assignment strategies. This protocol aids comparative studies of recruitment communication across species. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Mizumoto et al. (2023) and Valentini et al. (2020)..

Complex tissue flows in epithelia are driven by intra- and inter-cellular processes that generate, maintain, and coordinate mechanical forces. There has been growing evidence that cell shape anisotropy, manifested as nematic order, plays an important role in this process. Here we extend an active nematic vertex model by replacing substrate friction with internal viscous dissipation, dominant in epithelia not supported by a substrate or the extracellular matrix, which are found in many early-stage embryos.

Purpose: The assessment of lactate threshold (LT) and its relationship to open-water (OW) performance is crucial. This study aimed (1) to analyze LT in world-class OW swimmers, (2) to compare swimming speed at LT (SSLT) and 4 mmol·L-1 of blood lactate concentration ([La-]; SS4), and (3) to examine the relationships between SSLT and swimming performance.
Methods: Twenty world-class and elite (11 male, 26.

Background: Deloyers technique addresses challenges in restoring bowel continuity following extended left hemicolectomies. Despite being first described in 1958, the technique remains underutilized, with limited data on long-term outcomes.
Objective: To evaluate the indications, surgical and functional outcomes of Deloyers technique and review existing literature.

Objective: This study sought to conduct a meticulous systematic review, delving into the efficacy of exercise interventions on depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults. Additionally, we aimed to scrutinize the nuanced influence of various intervention factors on the intricate relationship between exercise and depressive symptoms within this demographic.
Methods: Our investigation involved an extensive search across multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library, spanning from the inception of these repositories to December 2023.

Antipsychotic medications are used to treat a psychological condition called 'Schizophrenia'. However, its long-term administration causes irregular involuntary motor movements, targeting the orofacial regions. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) is a naturally occurring triterpene saponin glycoside obtained from the roots of the Glycyrrhiza glabra (liquorice) plant and well known for its antioxidant, antiapoptotic and neuroprotective abilities.
