The aim of our technical report is to demonstrate the image inversion technique in the new Versius Robotic System. We report a step-by-step surgical maneuver for robotic surgeons when performing robotic ventral hernia repair (VHR) with the Versius Robotic System. The image inversion artifice consists in rotating 180° with the scope using the surgeon's master control in a specific rotation command in the right-hand joystick. The assisting surgeon can do a manual inversion of the camera without the console being aware that the scope is inverted. In this scenario, the 30° Up configuration should be used while informing the console that the scope is looking down. The surgeon can reassign instruments to each joystick. This results in the right joystick controlling the left instrument and left control controlling the right instrument. Since the image is inverted, the movements will look natural on the surgeon console. The use of the image inversion technique with the Versius Robotic System is effective in aiding surgeons to perform the hernia defect closure during robotic VHRs.

Biopsy location and tumor-associated macrophages in predicting malignant glioma recurrence using an in-silico model.

Predicting the biological behavior and time to recurrence (TTR) of high-grade diffuse gliomas (HGG) after maximum safe neurosurgical resection and combined radiation and chemotherapy plays a pivotal role in planning clinical follow-up, selecting potentially necessary second-line treatment and improving the quality of life for patients diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. The current standard-of-care (SoC) for HGG includes follow-up neuroradiological imaging to detect recurrence as early as possible and relies on several clinical, neuropathological, and radiological prognostic factors, which have limited accuracy in predicting TTR. In this study, using an in-silico analysis, we aim to improve predictive power for TTR by considering the role of (i) prognostically relevant information available through diagnostics used in the current SoC, (ii) advanced image-based information not currently part of the standard diagnostic workup, such as tumor-normal tissue interface (edge) features and quantitative data specific to biopsy positions within the tumor, and (iii) information on tumor-associated macrophages.

Impact of vaginoplasty on sexual health and satisfaction in transgender women.

Background: Demand for gender-affirming surgery (GAS) is rising. The main objective of this surgery is the creation of a perineo-genital complex that appears and functions as femininely as possible, with a sensitive clitoris and a vagina capable of receptive intercourse. Penile skin inversion is currently regarded as the gold standard technique.

Purpose: To study the distinct imaging characteristics of parenchymal neurocysticercosis (NCC) that aid in distinguishing it from other diseases.

Material And Methods: Two hundred fifty patients with NCC were selected based on identification of the scolex. T2 weighted, T1 fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR), T2 FLAIR, susceptibility weighted imaging, constructive interference in steady state, diffusion weighted imaging, and T1 weighted contrast sequences were performed.

Accurate image reconstruction within and beyond the field-of-view of CT system from data with truncation.

Objective: Accurate image reconstruction from data with truncation in X-ray computed tomography (CT) remains a topic of research interest; and the works reported previously in the literature focus largely on reconstructing an image only within the scanning field-of-view (FOV). We develop algorithms to invert the data model with truncation for accurate image reconstruction within the entire subject support or a region slightly smaller than the subject support.

Methods: We formulate image reconstruction from data with truncation as an optimization program, which includes hybrid constraints on image total variation (TV) and image L1-norm for effectively suppressing truncation artifacts.

Objective: Acute unilateral peripheral vestibulopathy or vestibular neuritis (AUPV/VN) manifests as acute onset vertigo, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and moderate gait instability. It is suspected when vestibular hypofunction is documented on video-head impulse (video-HITs) and caloric tests in the presence of contralesionally beating horizontal-torsional nystagmus. Herein, we report patients presenting with acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) showing selective otolithic dysfunction in the presence of normal caloric and video-HITs and abnormal enhancement of the peripheral vestibular structures on MRI.
