Most red-fleshed kiwifruit cultivars, such as Hongyang, only accumulate anthocyanins in the inner pericarp; the trait of full red flesh becomes the goal pursued by breeders. In this study, we identified a mutant "H-16" showing a red color in both the inner and outer pericarps, and the underlying mechanism was explored. Through transcriptome analysis, a key differentially expressed gene was screened out, which was positively correlated with anthocyanin accumulation in the outer pericarp. The result of McrBC-PCR and bisulfite sequencing revealed that the SG3 region (-292 to -597 bp) of promoter in "H-16" had a significantly lower CHH cytosine methylation level than that in Hongyang, accompanied by low expression of methyltransferase genes ( and ) and high expression of demethylase genes ( and ). Transient calli transformation confirmed that demethylase gene can activate transcription of to enhance its expression. Overexpression of enhanced the anthocyanin accumulation in the fruit flesh and leaves of the transgenic lines. These results suggested that a decrease in the methylation level of the promoter may contribute to accumulation of anthocyanin in the outer pericarp of "H-16".

Dihydroporphyrin iron (DH-Fe) is a novel plant growth regulator that plays significant roles in plant stress resistance. We found that is extremely sensitive to low temperature (LT) with a threshold of 25°C. To evaluate whether and how DH-Fe alleviates LT stress in , different DH-Fe concentrations (0, 10, 20, and 40 μg·L) were applied to estimate its effects on C and N metabolism and antioxidative capacity in grown under 20°C.

In this study, a mixed fermentation strategy using grape-blended pear juice co-inoculated with 346 and ES488 was used to characterize the modifications of the flavor and antioxidant activity of Zaosu pear-Merlot grape alcoholic beverage. The optimum fermentation parameters identified using a fuzzy mathematical sensory evaluation model were an initial pH of 4.22, a ratio of 346 and ES488 inoculated 1.

Biostimulants are an emerging and innovative class of products that may mitigate the adverse effects of extreme heat, but research on their efficacy in fruit crops is limited. This study addressed this knowledge gap by evaluating the performance of three biostimulants, FRUIT ARMOR™, Optysil®, and KelpXpress™ [active ingredients glycine betaine, silicon, and kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum) extract, respectively] applied to three raspberry genotypes exposed to high temperatures (T ≥ 35 °C/day) inside a glasshouse. 'Meeker' consistently maintained high chlorophyll fluorescence (F/F) and photosynthesis under control and biostimulant treatments.
