Objectives: Nursing home residents have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite recognition as a priority group for receipt of the COVID-19 vaccine, vaccine uptake and COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in nursing home facilities were variable across nursing homes. This study has 2 objectives: (1) to describe nursing facility characteristics associated with higher vs lower vaccination rates and (2) to estimate facility characteristics associated with COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, stratified by vaccination rate.
Design: Cross-sectional study.
Setting And Participants: Facility-level data from 12,811 US nursing home facilities.
Methods: Using the CMS's Nursing Home COVID-19 Public File, we analyzed nursing home COVID-19 vaccination rates and outcomes from June 13, 2021, to September 19, 2021. We performed multivariable logistic regressions and identified facility characteristics associated with increased vaccination uptake and COVID-19 outcomes.
Results: Nursing homes with average vaccination rates ≤80% experienced higher total average COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths compared to facilities with >80% average vaccination rates during the Delta surge. Moreover, facility factors, such as higher average age of residents, proportion of non-white residents, nurse staffing hours, and occupancy rates, were variably associated with increased risk of COVID-19 outcomes.
Conclusions And Implications: Facilities with higher resident vaccination rates experienced lower average COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in US nursing homes. Access to vaccines may play a role in mitigating harm associated with infectious diseases. Additionally, facility factors associated with increased adverse outcomes were variably associated with increased odds of COVID-19 outcomes, often, irrespective of vaccination level. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and as the possibility of other infectious disease variants emerge, this research provides insight into facility factors, including vaccine uptake, that may mitigate adverse outcomes.

To investigate the safety of the tetravalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MPCV-ACYW) in combination with the inactivated poliomyelitis (IPV) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine for infants aged 3-5 months and provide real-world evidence for the immunization strategy of vaccine combination. From June to October 2023, a total of 600 3-month-old infants were selected and divided into three groups: control group, mono-vaccination group and combined vaccination group. They were simultaneously or individually vaccinated with MPCV-ACYW, IPV and DTaP vaccines at 3, 4, and 5 months of age, respectively.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had a major impact on the health of people worldwide, including the pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) patients. As no study has investigated the susceptibility and disease course of COVID-19 in PIBD patients after the end of zero-COVID policy in China, we conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study in our center. A cross-sectional survey enrolling PIBD patients has been completed by online survey, phone, and face-to-face assessment.

Background: COVID-19 disease burden has been mitigated by vaccination; however, concerns persist regarding weakened immune responses in liver transplant (LT) recipients. This study investigates COVID-19 outcomes in LT recipients based on vaccination status.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study identified LT recipients with PCR-confirmed COVID-19 infection from 03/01/2020 to 07/31/2023.

Background: Previous studies have found an association between influenza, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease mortality, and all-cause mortality. And the vaccination of elderly diabetes is often recommended to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death. Nevertheless, no previous work has investigated the short-term impact of influenza on diabetes mortality in China.

Purpose: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the major cause of (pre)malignant cervical lesions. We previously demonstrated that Vvax001, a replication-incompetent Semliki Forest virus (SFV) vaccine encoding HPV type 16 (HPV16) E6 and E7, induced potent anti-E6 and -E7 cytotoxic T-cell responses. Here, we investigated the clinical efficacy of Vvax001 in patients with HPV16-positive cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3).
