An electrocatalyst of single-atomic Mn sites with MnP nanoparticles (NPs) on N, P co-doped carbon substrate was constructed to enhance the catalytic activity of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) through one-pot in situ doping-phosphatization strategy. The optimized MnSA-MnP-980℃ catalyst exhibits an excellent ORR activity in KOH electrolyte with a half-wave potential (E) of 0.88 V (vs. RHE), and the ORR current density of MnSA-MnP-980℃ maintained 97.9 % for over 25000 s chronoamperometric i-t measurement. When using as the cathode, the MnSA-MnP-980℃ displays a peak power density of 51 mW cm in Zinc-Air batteries, which observably outperformed commercial Pt/C (20 wt%). The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal that the doped P atoms with a strong electron-donating effectively enhances electron cloud density of Mn SAs sites, facilitating the adsorption of O molecules. Meanwhile, the introduction of MnP NPs can regulate the electronic structure of Mn SAs sites, making Mn SAs active sites exist in a low oxidation state and are less positively charged, which can supply electrons for ORR process to narrow the adsorption energy barrier of ORR intermediates. This work constructs novel active sites with excellent ORR properties and provides valuable reference for the development of practical application.

Members of the old yellow enzyme (OYE) family utilize a flavin mononucleotide cofactor to catalyze the asymmetric reduction of activated alkenes. The 2-enoate reductase (2-ER) subfamily are of particular industrial relevance as they can reduce α/β alkenes near electron-withdrawing groups. While the broader OYE family is being extensively explored for biocatalytic applications, oxygen sensitivity and poor expression yields associated with the presence of an Fe/S cluster in 2-ERs have hampered their characterization.

The direct conversion of dinitrogen to nitrate is a dream reaction to combine the Haber-Bosch and Ostwald processes as well as steam reforming using electrochemistry in a single process. Regrettably, the corresponding nitrogen oxidation (NOR) reaction is hampered by a selectivity problem, since the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is both thermodynamically and kinetically favored in the same potential range. This opens the search for the identification of active and selective NOR catalysts to enable nitrate production under anodic reaction conditions.

Purpose: Gastrostomy is the commonly used enteral feeding technology. The clinical risks caused by tube dislodgement and peristomal site infection are the common complications before complete tract maturation after gastrostomy. However, there is currently no relevant research to promote gastrostomy wound treatment and tract maturation.

This study investigates the effect of 100 mg L thymol treatment on the quality of post-harvest peppers stored at 10 °C. The results showed that thymol treatment significantly reduced decay rate, reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, and saturated fatty acid levels in peppers. Moreover, unsaturated fatty acids, non-enzymatic antioxidants, and antioxidant enzyme levels increased after treatment.

Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) are characterized by abnormal pulmonary vessels forming arteriovenous shunts that compromise oxygenation of the blood, causing hypoxemia, and predispose to infections and cerebral ischemia. The patient in this case was a 38-year-old male who presented with tachypnea and dyspnea, cyanosis of extremities, and significant digital clubbing. The patient had structural epilepsy secondary to neurosurgery for a cerebral abscess during childhood.
