Introduction: Onychopapilloma is a benign tumor presenting as an isolated benign warty distal matrix and bed lesion in association with longitudinal erythronychia for which no underlying cause can be identified. Diagnosis might be challenging due to other, more severe, causes of erythronychia.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the clinical and sonographic features of onychopapilloma using high-frequency ultrasound.
Methods: Between February 2022 and May 2023, a cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 39 patients displaying clinical features suggestive of onychopapilloma. These patients were selected at random and underwent examination using high-frequency ultrasound. High-frequency ultrasound assessments of the nail unit were carried out using 33 MHz and 24 MHz high-frequency linear transducers. An experienced radiologist performed the ultrasound scans while participants assumed an orthostatic seated position. Subsequently, the collected ultrasound images were independently evaluated by two radiologists specializing in nail injuries, ensuring a blinded assessment. This evaluation aimed to provide comprehensive insights into the imaging characteristics of onychopapilloma.
Results: High-frequency ultrasound revealed oval or linear hyperechoic masses located in the middle of the nail plate, without vascularity or posterior acoustic shadowing. Nail plate irregularity, thickening, and nail bed indentation were observed in some cases. These findings demonstrate that high-frequency ultrasound can aid in the diagnosis and surgical planning of onychopapilloma, providing detailed visualization of the lesion and surrounding structures.
Conclusions: This imaging method could represent a potential tool to differentiate onychopapilloma from other nail conditions, especially malignant neoplasms. However, further research is needed to validate these findings and assess long-term outcomes.

The generalization of deep learning (DL) models is critical for accurate lesion segmentation in breast ultrasound (BUS) images. Traditional DL models often struggle to generalize well due to the high frequency and scale variations inherent in BUS images. Moreover, conventional loss functions used in these models frequently result in imbalanced optimization, either prioritizing region overlap or boundary accuracy, which leads to suboptimal segmentation performance.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have achieved remarkable segmentation accuracy in medical image segmentation tasks. However, the Vision Transformer (ViT) model, with its capability of extracting global information, offers a significant advantage in contextual information compared to the limited receptive field of convolutional kernels in CNNs. Despite this, ViT models struggle to fully detect and extract high-frequency signals, such as textures and boundaries, in medical images.

Aim: To assess tissue perfusion changes and wound healing biomarker levels after root coverage procedures with coronally advanced flap in combination with the cross-linked xenogeneic collagen matrix (CCMX), loaded either with a placebo or recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor-BB (rhPDGF).
Methods: This study was designed as a secondary analysis from a previously published clinical trial, and it assessed the tissue perfusion changes over 6 months around multiple gingival recession defects, treated with either with CCMX alone (control) or with CCMX + rhPDGF (test). High frequency Doppler ultrasonography (HFUS) scans were obtained at sites of interest at baseline, 2 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery.

Animal-based foods such as meat, dairy, and eggs contain abundant essential proteins, vitamins, and minerals that are crucial for human nutrition. Therefore, there is a worldwide growing demand for animal-based products. Since animal-based foods are vital resources of nutrients, it is essential to ensure their microbial safety which may not be ensured by traditional food preservation methods.

Introduction: Early detection of neurodegeneration is essential for optimizing interventions. The highly reproducible progression of neurodegeneration in the decrepit () mouse allows investigation of early biomarkers and mechanisms of brain injury.
Methods: Using high-frequency ultrasound, the common carotid arteries of female and male and control mice were imaged longitudinally at time points bracketing the disease progression (50, 75, and 125 days of age) ( = 6 mice/group/sex).
