Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the value of full thread screw and different fixation configurations in Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture.
Methods: A total of 40 artificial femoral model specimens were chosen, and Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture was simulated upon osteotomy at 80°. According to random number table, models were divided into four groups (10 cases in each group): Group A received the paralleled fixation with three partial thread screws (PTSs), group B received the crossed fixation with three PTSs, group C received the paralleled fixation with two full thread screws (FTSs) and one PTS, and group D received the crossed fixation with two FTSs and one PTS. Changes including the model rigidity, axial displacement in fatigue test and limit loads for Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture models were analyzed through MTS 858 Mini Bionix Ⅱ test system.
Results: Among four groups, the model rigidity, axial displacement in fatigue test and limit loads were the highest in group D, and they were the lowest in group A. However, the model rigidity, axial displacement in fatigue test and limit loads between group B and group C showed no statistically significant difference (>0.05). Eventually, all the specimens were displaced along the fracture lines while the femoral head was split at varying degrees. After splits, the removal rate of fixation screws in group A (60.0 %) and group C (40.0 %) was significantly higher than that of group B (10.0 %) and group D (0 %) (<0.05), but it showed no statistically significant difference between group A and group C, and between group B and group D (>0.05).
Conclusions: The crossed fixation configuration with two FTSs and one PTS in group D is proven to be more effective, which can go against the shear stress, tension and introversion in Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture models.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the risk factors for postoperative complications following Femoral Neck System (FNS) fixation in young patients with femoral neck fractures (FNFs).
Methods: We retrospective analyzed 133 patients with FNFs who underwent FNS fixation between May 2021 and October 2023. Potential risk factors that may affect the results included age, gender, body mass index (BMI), Pauwels classification, Garden classification, fracture anatomical classification, reduction method, reduction quality, coronal plane position of the FNS bolt.

The plasma membrane aquaporin ZmPIP1;6 is expressed in maize stomatal complexes, with higher expression during the day than at night. To elucidate the role of ZmPIP1;6 in gas exchange and stomatal movement, it was expressed in maize (inbred line B104) under the control of p35S promoter (OE) or its native promoter fused with mYFP cDNA (mYFP-ZmPIP1;6). In stomatal complexes of the leaf mature zone, mYFP-ZmPIP1;6 showed higher expression in subsidiary cells than in guard cells, with light and dark treatments influencing its subcellular localization.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes and complications of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) combined with sartorius muscle iliac bone graft transplantation (SIBFT) in the treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures in middle-aged and young adults.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 26 patients under the age of 60 with displaced femoral neck fractures (Pauwels III or Garden III-IV) treated at our institution between April 2019 to July 2022. All patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) through the Smith-Petersen (S-P) approach, augmented with a sartorius muscle iliac bone graft transplantation.

We redescribe the type material of Phyllodactylus siamensis Boulenger, 1899, type species of the Southeast Asian gekkonid genus Dixonius Bauer, Good & Branch, 1997, using external morphology and cranial osteology. There is some evidence that the type series contains more than one species; we hence designate a lectotype in order to stabilize nomenclature and provide more precision on the geographical location of the type locality. Because the current concept of Dixonius siamensis auctorum is incomplete and composite, we provide a revised diagnosis based on the presently designated lectotype and a paralectotype from the same locality, as well as observations on new material from the type locality and the first photographs of live topotypical individuals.
